He guarded a number of sf's in college, I do not think that will be an issue.

Watch the workout video. He CAN play the 3. None of our power forwards move with the ball like that. Athletically speaking, Melo is a bit more explosive, but i think that just means Morris won't be a prolific scorer like Melo, but the guy should be capable of 20ppg and most importantly:

NO ONE ELSE ON THE ROCKETS CAN GET THEIR OWN SHOT BETTER THAN MARCUS MORRIS CAN.

    We need that, desperately.

Well if we can get someone on the caliber of Martin with the 14th pic, I'd be very happy with that too.

If he is a SF ., . . I am good with the pick
if he is a Pf . . I am kind of disappointed. . . and need a drink.

That's exactly what I would want him to do. He is a world class athlete, but he has always only had to out score everyone. The challenge now is to get him to excel at D.

It's all about how motivated he is to do that.

THats ok. PFs apparently are to Morey are like what middle infielders are to Ed Wade and Tight Ends are to Kubiak. Keep stocking up on them! Never enough!

Center? Nah, who needs a center? 6'6 Chuck Hayes, get back out there or else!!

I know you're ignorant when it comes to basketball, but this is the NBA. He's too slow and unathletic to play sf. He'll get toasted by 3s at this level.

From the two interviews I have now seen, I think Morris has his head on straight. He has a chance to be a more athletic Battier. He already has a better low post game than Battier.

I agree, but he is a free agent. They will over pay for a undersized center.

I wouldnt compare him at all to battier. Morris can handle the ball better and create a shot with stepbacks, off a pick, in the post....he's a more complete player than battier, but I think battier was better defensively in his prime years.

Have no real analysis on this fellow. I'm hoping he's a versatile 3-man that can put points up in the mid-range, step out occasionally and play spot minutes at the four. Like a Melo lite. If so, then we got a really solid player. If not, then goddamnit.

His skillset looks a lot like Paul Pierce actually. Good feet, good size, good shot, not uber athletic.
