I really hope they play the national anthem before these games.

Having African Americans to play for our entertainment in empty arenas at Disney to fulfill tv contracts and preserve revenue streams seems like the tonic we as a nation need right now.

It feels like it has been 100 years since I last watched live basketball. Or this is just a really, really long offseason.

First time I log on in a long while.
Hope everyone has stayed safe and health is all good.

It sounds like the NBA is set on a 22 team playoffs. At first I hated this because I assumed first seed would face 22nd which would mean we would face the Mavs, the toughest lower seed possible. But just figured out this can’t be the case because you can’t split 22 teams into two brackets since there would be an odd number of series (11). So there definitely will be a play-in tournament and first round byes. Not sure what we’ll end up with. If Milwaukee and Lakers get a bye and everyone else plays the seed accordingly, then we end up with Brooklyn.

EDIT: it appears there will be 8 regular season games. Ignore everything except the stuff about wishing y’all good health. Who knows how this will shape up

The higher-seeded teams being able to transport their actual hardwood home court from their arenas to Orlando to try to preserve the feel of their home playing experience.

    Only agreeable one.

An off-court feature in which playoff teams, in order of seeding 1-16, receive first choice on picking which hotel they will stay at in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Disney World Resort. ESPN is owned by the Walt Disney Co.

Absolutely tone deaf and would be a sour thing to watch or hear about when people are literally getting evicted and starving.

I agree that's low. The US in in turmoil, people are homeless, unemployed and beyond stressed. It's going to happen regardless but keep it private.

none of this is even a true advantage to me. you can't duplicate what fans are for organized sports. the home court floor is nothing but tv optics. that makes no difference to the actual players. fun ideas to throw around as wrinkles but in the end they won't matter. its gonna be really fun to see all these guys on an even playing field and even the guys who struggle infront of fans, now playing much better without that

The NBA is planning to propose a 22-team return to the 2019-20 season in a Board of Governors meeting on Thursday, sources told The Athletic, with the draft lottery and combine expected to be in August.

The NBA’s 22-team format at Orlando’s Disney World would bring the 16 teams currently in a playoff spot, six additional teams, and include a play-in tournament for the eighth seed, sources said. The play-in tournament would work as follows, according to sources: If the ninth seed is more than four games behind the eighth seed, the eighth seed earns the playoff spot; if the ninth seed is four or fewer games behind, then the eighth and ninth seed will enter a play-in tournament that is double-elimination for the eighth seed and single-elimination for ninth.

Among several other medical protocols expected to be proposed in the coming days, according to sources:

    — Players unable to shower in the arena, would need to do so in their respective hotels
    — Bench players would sit in spread-out rows, inactive players would sit in the stands
    — No guests until the playoffs

Bizarre 22 teams invitation unless they get rid of conferences.

what's so bizarre? every single team out of that had 0 chance of making the playoffs ~ 15 games left. letting in washington was a gift to them. they wouldn't have made up that ground if things were just normal, especially with that team.

So, does this mean that we could move up all the way to the 2 seed theoretically?

with 8 games, in the west seeds 2-6 and even 7 could all be shuffling when its all done. so those 8 games won't be meaningless or just about runs to get into game shape. cause everyone is going to be playing for seeding/matchups.
