Just heard that the Landry group will be closing a Joe's Crab Shack up here in the Portland area(really its Vancouver Washington and it is right across state lines) gonna look for a press release now.. Edit* No release I can find...
Just check the newspaper for Vancouver, Washington https://www.columbian.com/news/2020/may/11/joes-crab-shack-closes-permanetly/
Might not be a thing... they closed the Joes Crab Shack by me here in Vegas a few years ago... Isnt a great chain... I was never impressed... anytime the staff takes time out to do dance to YMCA instead of waiting on the customers it doesnt bode well...
The straw that broke the camels back. The closing of Joe’s Crab Shack in Vancouver Washington. The Fertitta empire comes crashing down.
lol. The company that owned Joe's Crab Shack was shutting dozens of them down a couple of years ago as they were going bankrupt before Tillman bought that company. I hadn't tried a Joe's Crab Shack in about 15-20 years, and then tried one in Nashville. I regretted it.
It is as has been foretold in the Gypsy prophesies of old. The House of Fertitta shall stretch across the sea of food and reign from the Rainforest to the Bar of Cadillacs, Golden Nuggets will appear in the desert engraved in his name it will Rocket upwards to the heavens - until the shack of Joseph of Vancouver (Washington, though some scholars argue Canada) falls. Then, all will be as dust.
I haven't been in a Joe's Crab Shack in 15-20 years either. Same with Outback Steakhouse, Tony Roma's, Bennigan's, Red Lobster, etc. I know they weren't in mall food courts, but I associate places like that with malls. Like you'd go shopping at a mall then go eat lunch at a Macaroni Grill or Applebee's nearby.
Okay, here is the Crab Shack history. Tillman owned Crab Shack 10 years ago. He sold the chain except for the Original Crab Shack in Kemah. The new owner of the rest of the Crab Shacks declared bankruptcy a year or two ago. Tillman bought the chain back at a rock bottom price and has been "downsizing" the losing properties. The Crab Shacks in Houston were closed by the other owner, not Tillman. I agree, the Crab Shack chain is not what I call "delicious food"...it's a okay fast fish place.
We gonna get one of these threads now whenever a restaurant location closes? Sweet. Maybe we can make some kind of Fantasy league out of this. Crappy restaurant Pick Em.
I prefer Bubba Gump over Crab Shack...if I had to choose between the two. I rather eat at Babins or Landry's over Bubba Gump and Crab Shack.
This is Tilmans excuse to start cutting the bottom feeders that would have otherwise looked bad if he cut them several months ago.
All his restaurants are the same. Nothing great or good about the food. Just overpriced mediocre food. If I'm going to eat at a chain I'm eating Whataburger.
