This. There's a name to his face but a lot of nameless people dead don't get that degree of dignity from his supporters.

If we remove isolation policies like that loon ball and his supporters want, there will be a whole lot more victims that are big league much worse off than poor Bobo

Its so hard to get the general read on the virus these days.

Surprisingly hard to filter out the general clickbait panic from actual mortality statistics.

I hope and pray that your tests come back negative and your symptoms go away soon.

As we see here days 7 to 10 from the onset of symptoms are the most dangerous.
If someone can go through that with no or minor dyspnea and doesn't need hospitalisation then they will beat the virus.

Go to the John Hopkins website. Nothing but stats and graphs, I'm sure @JCDenton would approve.

right, but the reason you send people to the ICU is because of increased work of breathing and you are anticipating intubation (covid context). You dont want to intubate people on a regular floor

I'd do anything for another JCDenton graph.

wearing gloves in public isn't exactly helping. it creates a false sense of security. Cross contamination is a much bigger issue with this, and not enough people realize it

Your gloves are dirty once they touch any contaminated surface so don't touch your phone, keys, door, steering wheel, face, wallet, etc with your gloves on. But of course people are doing this anyway. If you need to use your phone then you have to remove your gloves and place new pair on after or else wearing gloves is basically useless. Another example of a false sense of security that will harm you more than protect you. You see examples of this at the grocery stores at any given time. Also to me, if you don’t wear gloves you’ll be more conscious to constantly wash your hands. Which is the most effective method in decreasing germs.

    hazard ratio [HR] 6.17; 95% 3.26-11.67

also to make it lol intelligibility more interesting :

While high fever was associated with a higher likelihood of developing ARDS (HR 1.77; 95% CI 1.11-2.84), it appears to be associated with a lower likelihood of death (HR 0.41; 95% CI 0.21-0.82) [7,21], a phenomenon that has been noted previously in some critically ill patients

Damn. The very best of luck to both of you. :-(

And people are supposed to go back to work? It's madness.

the sad part to me is how similar those charts are— it seems intubation is a threshold that many or most don’t survive.

fascinating detailed up-to-date science review of the virus. Technical but worth it for many of you:

it includes that chart from @malakas post, and makes a lot of broader points.
    1. When people get to hospital, viral load already decreasing, but it’s all about a deadly immune response at that point.

    2. We will have effective therapeutics SOON, but how to get them to people when it would be most helpful (nearly before symptoms!) is going to be the challenge. By the time a patient gets to ICU, the viral therapeutics are useless.

    3. We will have a vaccine but as many have said it’s going to take some work. The easiest path (inactivated chunks of virus) has already been closed, according to the research.

    For some better news.

Austria and Denmark have announced some measures to ease the lockdown.

Germany is also planning for this.

One of the measures is the development of a paneuropean mobile phone app that will track people so anyone who is found to be infected will be immedaitely able to track their contacts within 24 hours of diagnosis.
It is similar with SK except not so invansive.

And also it looks like every country that will ease the lockdown will require public mask wearing.

I don't know how this will be possible to implement here. Because most 80-90 year olds don't even have mobile phones and if they have they aren't smartphones.

That would mean we would have to pay to feed them. Id rather just chain them to a tree and allow all the duped customers to come cough and throw feces on them.

Same happened with one of Germany's leading politicians, it's sad that political leaders can't even follow guidelines for the duration of a short pr visit.

Yeah, this is ****ed up, so tired of scammers - just absolute bullshit. Selling fake tests, scamming government checks/income, and now possibly spreading Covid-19 with fake sites. Basically taking advantage of the issue/pandemic we're all facing. Just trash, it's like they don't see us as all the same people that are all in this together.
