good. bigger things to worry about. it seems very logical even from a few weeks ago. now we can only hope tillmen goes bankrupt from this and is forced to sell.
It always seemed like this is where it was headed. Is not easy to work out the details to continue it. Imagine all games played in Vegas, just sounded impossible. It's disappointing but we have bigger problems to worry about in the world.
Mike D'Antoni is a free agent! Also... Yes, it’s over. I don’t know why they have to “angle” towards anything. We’re all in the middle of a catastrophe of truly epic proportions and are essentially confined to our abodes, whatever they might be, for quite possibly months. Perhaps several months. Almost assuredly several months, in my opinion. Unless the league decides to play the games in empty gyms in a shortened season, with those players who are still healthy, and we are able to watch that on TV, I just don’t see it. Heck, I don’t see the league doing anything but marking this season an “incomplete” with the hope of being able to play in 2020-21. The sour cherry on top of the Coronavirus Catastrophe? Being stuck at home and not having the Rockets battling for that 3rd championship. It’s a freakin’ bummer, ATW.
This. The USA and large corporations in the USA are used to being so wealthy and powerful that nothing can stop them. A virus doesn’t care. Just call the season, there are more important things and the title won’t mean much as it will be anti climatic. Besides maybe it forces a terrible person to sell his team... and we can make fun of the arrogance of the Bucks as they call themselves champions the next 6-7 months and Giannis can keep blaming COVID19 for him not touching a basketball.
Reading the report it sounds like more of a worst case scenario proposition that has to be considered rather than anything solid. It really, in the end, is up to the players association. If they want to risk their health and those around them (Like Wrestlers...who also don't have a union...so...) than the NBA could have some kind of playoffs in Las Vegas...if they don't, it sounds like they do not as of right now...then no NBA.
Thing about Vegas is, that u still have exposure to “outside people”. Even if you contain everyone. I would absolutely love nba in the summer league style u could have all the regular season games space out between 1 pm ET and 11ET. When playoffs come 7 pm ET/ 10 ET Is perfect for for games. But a lot of times when a crazy play happens what makes us jump is the reactions from the fans. It’ll be interesting. Maybe big crowds will be back only for the finals. Who knows. I think Lebron will be absolutely pushing for playing this season out as with all the vets with primes running out. I’m ok with starting in August and finishing nba by October and starting 2021 season Christmas.
With outrage of people having to sit at home and wonder how they will pay rent or bills or people wanting to have their weddings and such, it’s not going to happen
Pickup style Vegas Playoffs would be absolutely legendary. Imagine the ratings for the NBA with full days of games, but also imagine the intensity as you can hear everything on the court happening with no crowd noise. It'll be like homecourt disadvantage for the Rockets, but for everyone!
Part 1 Best of three (held outdoors under the lights), five for the finals. Lock the teams down on a deserted island somewhere for two months ahead of time (do this during the peak of hurricane season for added drama). Crown champions. Part 2 Only the champions (Rockets) are allowed to leave. Hidden cameras reveal losing teams struggles for survival and eventual decent into cannibalism. Chuck, Shaq, and Kenny provide their insights but, in a twist, they're informed on-air that they too won't be allowed to leave. For sweeps week, daily challenges will be held and a random Kardashian awarded. The surviving player (or coach, commentator, or Kardashian) is awarded a raft and a Landry's gift card. Said survivor eventually drifts to a beach in the continental United States but, in yet another twist, rabid Floridians fighting for a way out of America kill the survivor and take the raft.
