    Let's try a new thread....

ESPN online has run a couple of articles the past 2 days with their "one hit wonders" for each team. Examples include Kevin Maas for the Yankees, Fidrych for the Tigers, and Versailles for the Twins.

Don't answer if you've already read the article, but who do you think they chose for the Astros?

The reigning Astros Alumni Home Run Derby Champ...Brian Bogusevic. Mitch Melusky, Greg Gross are other potential guys. Not sure the exact criteria, but Derek Bell wouldn't be a bad choice. He had several average to slightly good years, but only one great year. I'm guessing there are pitchers a plenty that I am missing, but would rather not dwell on that as most of them are likely injury related.

Without doing a lot of research into this, I would have to go with Chris Johnson. It was around 09 or 10 that he was our best player. Better than Berkman, Pence, Bourn.....never came close again

Of course there is 2017 Marwin

He got one hit and it was a wonder how he made playoff roster until it was broke that he was one of the leading masterminds behind the sign stealing scandal.

He's the Kelvin Cato of the Astros, without the giant contract

He like Hidalgo is at least a 2-hit wonder if memory serves.

Yeah, looked up his stats after the gut reaction. I mainly remember him for finishing the 2005 year fourth in MVP voting, but his 2003 year was similar with 10 less homers.

The player's WAR (as per baseball reference) in the 4 years he had 100+ plate appearances was 0.3 (156 PA), 1.8 (561 PA), -0.7 (345 PA), -0.7 (192 PA)

Chris Burke's 2005 NLDS series walkoff has to be in the running

    Edit: NLDS...

It was for over an entire season, not a particular game.

I know the answer but disagree. He wasn't that good in the season they're claiming was a 'hit'.

I had to go back and look at Bill Dawley's stats. I didn't realize he actually had 3 pretty good years

FWIW, Meluskey never had a bad season with us.

Truly must have been a historically insufferable POS.
