Surprisingly, I couldn't find a thread on this going back a few pages, so if I missed, please merge. While Biden isn't the official nominee I didn't know where to post this article since it falls under both the Biden and Trump campaign.
Trump is suing TV networks over and ad from a Biden Super PAC (Priorities USA). He has issued a cease and desist and is also threatening to bunk their license via the FCC for running an ad that is "fake news" https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/03/trump-political-ad-cease-and-desist-letter.html
Good luck to agent orange. I thought it was 50-50 before, now I think it 70-80% Not Trump. Trump have shown how incompetent he is at handling a crisis.
Gonna be a total **** show. And with the virus added on? Extreme chaos come voting time. How does this country vote amidst a time where millions could be infected?
You don't think editing soundbites to drive a narrative equates to libel ? That isn't "free speech" its intentionally twisting words in an attempt to damage the individual. I know your silly response - You support Trump! - That's flat out false. Don't let facts get in your way. You shoulda put this drivel in your propaganda thread ....
The FTC has never in its history stopped a political ad for mistruths. Whether you believe the ad is taking liberties with the truth, do you think that political ads should be pulled based on what the administration deems acceptable or not? That seems rather ominous for a democracy Do you agree that Biden should have the same power over Trump ads?
Is Biden president? hell no he Is not. This is all part of draining the swamp, you do things that are unprecedented if it's a net positive for you because decorum and norms are Swamp.
The problem is the dems are p*****s, I don’t agree with a large part of their policies but they neither have the backbone, will, or balls to get **** done. Which is a bad signs of leadership first of all. if they were smart they would run the “it’s a hoax” bit on repeat. People may not like Biden, but they love their children and parents and don’t want them in harms way
Has anyone else ever challenged those adds mistruths ? Letting the mistruths go seems more damaging to democracy to me .... I don't believe this should be based off of what one campaign or the other deems acceptable but actual facts and the context in which it is presented being truthful. To be blunt , that add intentionally twisted Trumps words to follow a narrative to exact a negative outcome - libelous. Yes he said them but they are stating the context matters - and lets be honest - It does. If you present the words in the context they were stated , they convey a totally different message.
Really??? Hmm?? So was he joking when he said it? Did it have a different interpretation? I remember hearing him say a lot of those things, so please let me know what context it was stating... And if he said it, then why not use it... His words11 I know a lot of people seem to interpret what he says differently... T_Man
Be careful about overestimating the American voter. That's the argument? If stripping out quotes from their context is libelous then every political ad ever made is libelous. As for the context, I don't think it even changes the meaning. I remember when he said most of those and it was pretty clear Trump's intent was to downplay the severity of the problem so that people would not take extreme actions -- actions we now see should have been taken -- that would disrupt the economy. It's a good ad. Very succinctly presents Trump's failure in crisis leadership.
You are right, maybe I should not too much faith in the population that put Trump in the white house in the first place, guess we will just have to see.
It's his own words. The deflection for this guy is ridiculous. How can you even reasonably defend the man's actions? He's a POS.
