I've been kind of avoiding it, but I do feel for all the staff that are being hurt by this and can't work from home on a computer.

So I will probably get some take out this weekend. Will try to go to some of the smaller places if I can, but I noticed it seems like most are doing take out. Pappasitos and Pappadeuax has canopies outside with servers taking orders.

Yeah, I've decided to hit one or 2 of my favorite local spots every week. Got a good burger/sammich trailer, a thai/sushi place, a Mexican joint, and a breakfast taco spot to rotate through.

Most people are thankfully. We had one couple that we forgot a small side salad, we drove it up to them and they tipped 10 dollars.

You can't get the virus from eating the food even if it were coughed on or whatever...correct? But, you could get it from the packaging. I would think you just need to be sure to wash your hands after unpacking the food (or after touching the packaging materials). And, then wash your hands again after cleaning up the packaging and meal. If they are saying you can get it from eating the food itself (assuming somehow the virus was on it), then that's news to me.

to me there is a disconnect here.

    1. We are furiously washing our hands because of touching things like public door handles, etc. Yes, experts say, keep washing those hands!
    2. Article says basically no worries if infected hands toss your salad (sorry!) or handle your honey pot (sorry!) or pizza box.

if you have to inhale a cough droplet to get COVID, how are asymptomatic people contagious and why in the hell is washing hands important?

truth is there are clearly multiple routes for virus transmission.

It's all about how much risk you are willing to take. I'm willing to take the risk. I want some of my favorite places to survive this ****, I guess that means I'm putting my own survival at risk, but I can't say I'm going full @malakas.

No known connection with it being transmitted via food that I know of, but anyone feel free to correct me. The packaging is a failure point because once it comes into your house it can get on your hands, your counters, etc. This is true of package deliveries, food packaging and deliveries, mail delivery, etc.

Once you get it on your hands, most people have a tendency to scratch their faces, pick their noses, etc. Initially when the recommendations came out, airborne infection wasn't considered as likely, but some evidence of it staying in the air for around 3 hours has since come out. You're just trying to kill it as many way as possible to reduce the probability of transmission.

An asymptomatic person could just cough to clear their throat, pick their nose, or something and get it on their hands and start transmitting. The problem is that they're still learning about this every day so precaution is taken. Several of the people in Singapore (?) and definitely China, never showed symptoms, but apparently still infected their families.

Here's an article from today regarding food safety and deliveries. It's saying the risk is there on packaging, but is apparently low :

If you're really worried about, get something you can warm up in the oven or microwave.

As long as you wash your hands after discarding the package , serving it in your own plates and use your own fork/spoon/knife there is no risk of infection.
Even if the virus is on a piece of lettuce that you eat with a fork and clean hands, the virus will not manage to infect you. Microbes are specialised in their means of transmission. It will end up in your stomach and that will take care of it.

Now if you eat food with your hands i.e pizza, tacos, kebab etc then there is a chance of infection.

Added this to the first post:

If you have a membership to a gym or daycare and aren't using it, consider just paying it anyway if you can afford it. We want these businesses to stay open so they're usable after the pandemic. Consider it goodwill/support for good businesses that have earned our trust!

I paid $40 for a $8 meal. I ate half of it then gave the rest to my partner to try. She loved it, so it was well worth the price like I told the owner.

Went to the local hardware store and bakery and threw them some biz yesterday. Kept my distance, only tackle-hugged octogenarians.
