There's no place for anti-Semitism! Or, maybe the "k" and the "l" are too close together on that keyboard. ;)

PLUS, so many childish things I can do with that thread title. SO MANY.

The Suns Spurs series from 2007 has always bothered me. Even though I'm not a Suns fan, the whole series just seemed off. MDA got caught up in the whole referee gambling scandal as well. No one brings this up but this man has been robbed.

    https://clutchpoints.com/2007-phoenix-suns-get-robbed-nba-championship/

This is a huge reason why I still root for the guy. He had to the worst luck of any coach in NBA history, and I don't say that lightly. Then CP pulls his hammy when he's back at the door a decade later.

I'm a sucker for redemption stories and a bit soft when it comes MDA. But how can you not root for this man? This has to work.

    Yes, agree.

But the trick is to find these tweeners now.

    6'10 Bolden
    7'0 Bender
    6'6 Anderson

All these players fit this description and were all available for cheap.

    Justin Anderson is still available.

And I still have hope for 6'9 Bruno.

I'm not a fan of MDA... I think he's a good coach who is his own worst enemy due to his stubborness - causing him not to react and adjust at the most crucial junctures...

...but after the amount of time he's put into the game I appreciate him having the opportunity to fully implement his vision....

I think it will all be exposed in the playoffs and we'll come up short (again)... but hey, if you wanna give the old man his shot - fine....

I'd have no prob running small ball as an option in the course of a game.... or even using it as our primary set... but we're painted into a corner at this point... we'll see what happens....

Hoping for the best - but expecting the worst...

    Rockets will win it all.

    You will like MDA then.

Just like everyone hates him now.

Was it one of Chris Broussard's new dry rub bones?

I usually back Morey. And don’t know why I’m bringing this up now and in this thread.

But how have I never held Morey accountable for hiring McHale?

I think the move to small ball was due to two factors:

    1. Morey has been around MDA enough to have seen how good his teams are when they go small. Ending up (thanks, Tilman!) with two guards who are exceptional at penetrating a defense made it a no brainer to try to clear up some space in the paint on offense.

    2. Capela himself was the second factor: Not being a threat to score from anywhere outside of 10" made him a hindrance on offense since he was either taking up James' and Russ' space or backing out far enough where his defender knew it was okay to leave him. Just as importantly, he was our only big tradable chip this year. Our only options were to trade Clint or pretty much stand pat and make minor roster moves.

There's no way Morey trades away his starting center for a wing and then walks away four months later from small ball.

This is a commitment to the style of play D'Antoni wants.

Either D'Antoni will be back, or we'll have a coach committed to the same idea.

I can't be mad at that. We have to prove it during the playoffs.

I look at it this way:

    1) The bone he threw was a roster going forward that doesn't fit ANY other coach in basketball. Any other coach who inherits this squad will look bad trying to take them to the promised land.

    2) You can't start the threepeat if you don't win now.

So considering these two things and assuming that Morey absolutely loves and believes in D'Antoni.. he was making the decision for Tilman that Tilman was too stubborn to make last summer. In other words, after all these trades? MDmA is a lock to come back next year now.

Let it go man. It's not going to happen. Even if it did, I doubt the rockets will be able to effectively use a circumstancial center

Yes I didn't look at that way, but you and Will are right. I don't know of another coach they can bring in that would know what to do with this roster. Morey may have thrown him more of a bone than I initially thought.

The NBA draft will be interesting going forward. We draft as many identical players as we have draft picks.

We don't have any draft picks for the foreseeable future. LOL. When's the last time we had a first round draft pick that we kept?

I think we have every other year's first. You're not allowed to trade all your firsts.. right? Or do I have that wrong?
