I doubt the Knicks buy him out honestly. I would only say that he is a good defender and would be a perfect fit for what the Rockets need..... The Rockets being able to run Covington and Harkless out together would make a huge difference in an already even Western Conference.... that type of addition would likely be enough to get out of the WC.
The Knicks expected he would want to be bought out. Regardless, this summer Harkless is the type of guy the Rockets need to target to add to the team. Same thing with guys like Torrey Craig, Jae Crowder, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
In order for players to be eligible for the playoffs, they have to sign by March 1st at the latest. If they sign players after that point, they will not be able to play in the playoffs.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Moe Harkless and Bobby Portis are being bought out at this point in time. I haven’t heard anything yet about Markieff Morris either. We already know Tristan Thompson is a no as well. Doesn’t want to lose his bird rights.

Jae Crowder and Hollis-Jefferson cannot shoot 3ball so not playable with Russ. Hard pass. Still a lot of Killer B's available even without buyouts of Harkless or Spellman. But both were my top options too.
don't lose hope maybe they wont sign him for the year and this will keep him from other teams getting to him while we wait
