https://hoopshype.com/2017/08/04/j-...changed-offer-from-four-years-to-three-years/ He was coming, along with CP3 in 2017 off-season and would've easily been our best shooter up there with Ryan Anderson in the 2017-18 season. Right now he'd be money lik EGO can be and would've given us that steady 3pt shooting we miss so badly. He's at 45.9% at 6.5 attempts per game and last two years at 42% (6.6 attempts) and 39.7% (8 attempts). He's been around 40-45% at 5-7 attempts her game and rarely has gone below 40% over the year, last 10 years only 12-13 and 13-14 . So I seriously want to know what happened there, maybe insiders and Clutch have some insight? Would it pushed us way over the tax at the time? Was it a matter of Tucker vs. Redick? Like we could not have signed both?
he wanted 4 years...Morey was offering 3, so he chose to take a big, short term deal with Philly JJ would be nice to have now, but Morey built a title contender that summer
We offered him 4 years, then Morey changed it to 3. JJ was going to be part of that, but my guess is it was either him or Tucker.
If it was between either JJ or Tucker, then what’s the problem? Signing Tucker is easily the better decision. He was a HUGE part of that 17-18 squad, and he remains extremely valuable to this day. He’s the heart and soul of this team.
We signed Tucker. We didn’t have any cap space and we already had Eric Gordon So you have to ask yourself, would you rather have had Reddick or Tucker? I’ll take Tuck.
JJ (as he said in the story) would have been traded already. “They offered four [years] and then they went three. Daryl [Morey] always has a million things going on, like in A Beautiful Mind with all of the stuff written on the chalkboard. I’m sure he had four or five deals out there [he was working on]. The day before free agency, I thought it was a four-year deal. Chris Paul and I talked for about 30 minutes the night before free agency started. I wanted to go there. “[It didn’t work out] – some of it was numbers and some of it was other factors like relocating the family and – I hate to say this – but you never know with Daryl and how he operates. A three-year deal could really be a six-month deal if you get dealt at the trade deadline for a superstar as part of a package of six.” JJ has done well for himself. 1 year, $23M 1 year, $12.2M 2 years, $26.5M 4 years, $61.7M
JJ either choking or vanishing in those games that matter…say those post-season games when he in clippers and sisters jersey
JJ is exactly what this team needs. Someone that can hit open shots consistently . Gordon will score 20 one game then the next night go 0-13
I was just about to post this....he’s over rated and once he was getting consistently torched posters would be screaming to bench his ass....
Yep, it would be nothing but "what was Morey thinking getting a great shooter who can't play defense? We've seen this before with Ryan Anderson, Morey is so stupid!!"
Sign another scorer like Tyler Johnson or Dion Waiters to back up EGo when he is injured or just plain cold. And instead of lamenting Reddick sign Ryan Broekhoff, a better 3P shooter instead - 40% 3P this season.
Also... before the Morey incident, China was our market. I don't think it would have been a good idea to bring in JJ Redneck and the **** that comes out of his mouth.
