Isn't it nice having a real deal 3 and D wing again?

Credit to everyone who made this possible. MDA, Morey and even punk ass Tilman deserve major props.

I was down after the trade deadline passed and we didn't secure more depth at the 4/5. But Covington was worth it. Any able body from the buy out market will just be icing on the cake.

We've FINALLY found our replacement for Ariza/ Luc. I think that Covington will be even better.

    How sweet it is!

All those "I don't see why yall are obsessed with Covington", "Covington's not that good", "we're literally trading for a guy we cut 3 years ago" posts.

    It's okay. I forgive yall.

Anyways, yes. It's very nice have a legit 3&D player again. I think we can reach the level of play we saw in the 2nd half of the 17-18 season again.

After watching the game is there any center that we can get that can half way hang with our run and gun offense?

    6'11 Justin Patton 31% from 3 (G League)
    6'9 Kyle O'Quinn 33% from 3 this season

*Was hoping 6'10 Jonah Bolden would be waived by 6ers too. He is the guy I want most. Uber athletic and can switch D plus shot 40% from 3 in Adriatic League. Career 35% from 3 in NBA (only 24).

*KOQ may not be officially waived yet either.

I agree. he's the back up plan. with him, roco, tucker and harden they can switch on the center easily and with those long arms, roco and cabolco can play good help D...

Covington will have some poor shooting nights and should get occasional nights off... but he is a vastly superior player than Ariza.

it's amazing how people thought you could replace a defensive wing with min level/borderline nba players and get the same production and more. nah, there's levels to this. when you get an elite defensive wing, last night was the type of production you're able to get. no other wing the rockets had, that played in his position will ever have that type of game and contribution to winning

Remember when Chuck Hayes was our starting center, at 6’6?

    this feels like that.

I think a lot (most) fans still view the game as one where you have traditional positions. I’m somewhat surprised so many Rockets fans do with the fact our 1-3 are basically positionless.

With all the rule changes and the coaching/teaching changes at the AAU and even middle school level... it isn’t shocking.

A lot of people were up in arms when I said the Rockets chief concern was trading Capela for a wing back in training camp. Then when I said the Rockets are not dead set on getting a replacement for Capela.

The game is different. Also it isn’t championship or bust for the MDA/DM experiment to be a success.

The Bucks are just a very underrated team and the Lakers are vulnerable. The Clippers will beat the Lakers if they match up.

Probably Montrezl Harrell, especially since we're playing small ball lineups anyway.

Any chance Ariza gets bought out. Would love to add him for some depth.

Edit: I didn't realize Portland traded for him.

2 Seasons ago Covington was all NBA 1st team defense ranked 2nd to Leonard and last season was 3rd behind Leonard and Green
