And that resulted in..... what, exactly?...

This will never not amaze/amuse me... the Rockets were an injury away from... BEING FIVE WINS away from winning the NBA Finals and being world champions.

Again, if you can make that claim - which is absurd - I can claim the Texans were an injury away from winning the Super Bowl and being world champions in 2011. Which is equally absurd.

They're 3rd, no question. But the Rockets, in 2nd place, are much closer to the Texans than they are the Astros.

Again. All you can do is ask a team to be in a position to legitimately compete for a title, which is something that the Rockets have done and the Texans have never been remotely close to doing.

You keep saying "5 games away!"...... the Rockets were a game away, the Cavs were not in the same class as the Rockets or Warriors. The Cavs were swept by the Warriors in the finals. The Rockets won 15 more games than the Cavs that season. The Cavs were out scored by 60 points in that 4 game sweep.

No the Texans were not an injury away from making the Super Bowl. The Texans were clearly inferior to the remaining teams in the playoffs. If you want to die on that cross is you want but you look foolish.

No, the Rockets have not been much closer to the Texans. The Texans have clearly been the weakest of the three franchises.

    You're being intentionally obtuse.

The NBA doesn't have fluke champions unless you get extremely lucky with injuries like the Raptors did,you have to be the best team. The Rockets could have been the second best team in the NBA for 5 straight years, and a title would have still likely eluded them due to the Warriors dominance.

The NFL has new champions every year, you merely have to be "one" of the best teams to have a legit chance at a title. Hell the mediocre Jags and Titans have made runs, and the Texans can't even manage that much even when the door is wide open like this season. In the league where winning in the postseason is significantly more difficult to accomplish, the Rockets have still managed to go deeper than the Texans twice, only to fall to an all time great unit.

By your logic the Suns have been as good as the Rockets because no title. The Texans win a sorry ass division, and get stomped. They are like the eastern conference JV squads over the last 20 years

Verbal Thunderdome, with some hamster wheel thrown in.

This was the same M.O. as the former moniker whose name I cannot say for fear of being yelled at.

There is no quit, there is no quarter. These arguments will continue for as long as you draw breath.

Can you point to anyone who's made the claim that the Rockets are in the same class as the Astros? You're creating strawmen to bolster your flailing argument. You literally just made that up and are arguing with no one.

The only claim anyone has made is that Rockets are in a higher class than the Texans. And they very clearly are by basically every measure.

This simply is not true. And this is why you're called a ridiculous Texans homer.

Silly argument, but it's the offseason I suppose...

Rockets - advanced to 3rd round of playoffs 2 times in the last 5 years
Texans - advanced to 3rd round of playoffs 0 times in their entire 18 years of existence

That's really all you need to know when comparing the 2 franchises.

This. This is the dumbest ****. :D

Stop comparing Bill O'Brien/Texans to Mike D'Antoni, the Houston Dynamo, the Rugby Houston SaberCats or any other non-NFL franchise.

He's the T-7th longest tenured HC.

Yet, Mike Zimmer is in a super tough division without the luxury of a steady QB. The Vikings would miss the playoffs with BOB. ZImmer elevates the Texans to conference powerhouse/Super Bowl contender.

You must be a hater as well since you are ready for O’Brien to be fired.

Yet the Yexans won the division this year beating out a team that took down the number one seed and played in the AFCCG.

I get the Texans have issues HC/OC/OL coaches being first and foremost. But dont try to make it out like the AFC South is a weak division. It used to be but that's not the case anymore.

No. There are some who are just irrational about wanting BoB gone. It is over the top.

This thread just depresses me now. Instead of getting fired he has been given more power.

Maybe there should be a "Give BoB More Power" thread. Maybe that will get him canned.

Rational or irrational, there are fans who want AFC South Division championships and there are fans who want to see the team not get blown out in the playoffs. That you fit in the former and many people here are in the latter is more a difference of opinion on what constitutes good coaching than anything else.

    BOB's not a great HC.

But they got blown out because they aren't as talented as the Chiefs are. That may be a tough pill for some of y'all to swallow.

Plus, they have the next great QB in Mahomes. Meanwhile Texans fans are stuck with hoping Watson will learn how to throw from the pocket and read the blitz.

They got blown out because they have a crappy offense due to BOB being a bad coach and a crappy defense because BOB prioritized his entire offseason on offense while taking away talent on defense.

The Texans traded for Duke Johnson, Tunsil, Stills, have one of the best QBs in Watson, one of the best receivers in Hopkins, and they couldn't do anything against a mediocre KC defense. They let Mathieu and Clowney go both had great years for their new teams. The defense sucked because they had bad personnel. The offense sucked because BOB is an inept offensive coach. The irony is that people think RAC is a bad coach when he had absolutely nothing to work with this year, while BOB had everything talent everywhere on offense and the team couldn't score without being gifted by KC turnovers.
