I can see this working out very well if he decided to take the gig. But losing Lunhow, man that stings. He was the best GM any Houston sports team ever had
Do you really want to end up hating Biggio? Dierker was very beloved before he became the manager... now there's just bitterness... on both sides.
I don't hate Dierker, though the org does. But yeah don't think Biggio is the right guy either, unless they REALLY want to focus on the PR aspect and nothing else
Biggio wouldn't want that type of commitment. Perhaps if it was interim if Hinch was only suspended a year but that's not happening.
Hiring Biggio means having to fire Biggio at some point. No thanks, I love Biggio and would like to keep loving him. Big name managers hired for their big name is a really bad idea.
I'm not sure clichè-laden interviews littered with the word "obviously," while the team flounders around .500, will be good for PR.
No. I don't believe Craig would be a good manager. Bagwell might, but he wouldn't take the job. And he's probably too old school to get on board with all the analytics, even though I wouldn't mind a little more old-school flavor and a HoF five-tool player keeping an eye on the bats and runners.
I figured with all the questions coming all year from national and other team's media (and some from our media initially), Biggio is probably the only guy you could be certain would never stick his foot in his mouth. [see your post above]
I thought he was a better analyst... before I saw how he managed. Plus, what could Biggio possibly say to these guys in the post-season to get them ready? "Don't play like I did!" LOL... again, I don't want to hate him.
FWIW, we had Bagwell as a coach, and he never had to be fired (granted that isn't the norm). Buck Showalter, Dusty Baker, & Mike Scioscia are big names that could be mentioned, but I don't think are likely to get real consideration. Brad Ausmus will be mentioned given his lengthy career here, but he hasn't had much success. Another former Astros Catcher would probably be preferred, and that is Bruce Bochy, but I think he is done managing or at least sitting out 2020.
The only outcome here is disaster. The last thing we need is a deep investigation into Bagwell and Biggio who as of right now we all consider clean, but there is all kinds of dirt on their teammates, so I don’t want anymore eyes on them than necessary. Clemens made the same mistake. Just stay out of the light at this point. Don’t ask, don’t tell and I can sleep at night.
