ESPN's RPM always has way more head scratchers compared to the others. Jayson Tatum and Will Barton are top 5? Out of all these "all in one" plus/minus advanced stats, I think this one is the worst. I've always liked PIPM, and I think RAPTOR is good too.
You're right about that, it does need more data, but I've followed this stat for years, and I've never been a huge fan of it. I may be biased because the formula is such a black box, they don't share their formula or any insight to their methodology. PIPM is totally transparent, and RAPTOR hasn't published their exact formula, but they have written thousands of words describing how it works, which I like. RPM always seems to have a bunch of weird results, even at the end of seasons, that really don't make any sense. And it's hard to justify it when they won't share anything about how the stat works.

What’s going to be funny is that in 20-25 years everyone in the NBA will be raving about Harden. But yet, here and now they scuff at everything he does. Harden plays within the confines of the rulebooks. He’s not calling the fouls, he’s not magically making point appear or disappear, unlike the NBA refs. He is a bull as he steam rolls into the lane, he is a magician with the basketball, an amazing ball handler, and he has his teams produce wins; unlike what many say there is no gimmicks, just flat out basketball. The 3 point line is for everyone to utilize, if the NBA goes out and says each team can only get a max of twelve 3 pointers a game; then make the change. Make the NBA into the true gimmick it’s become in the hearts of the fans. People, unfortunately are easily swayed by other people’s agendas and opinions. Trust your eyes and your knowledge, and you can’t be as easily fooled.
These stats are just trash especially DRPM. They are even trashier than previous years. They must have changed their formula to the worse.
