I agree with this for the most part, but I look at it,slightly different.

In the NBA right now, nearly every team is still in the playoff, even teams like the Kings, Hornets, and Grizzlies can conceivably reach the playoffs. Over 20 teams have a shot at playoffs, I dare say up to 25 teams have a fair chance.


While you have the bottom 4 to 10 teams.

Melo fans argue he's being blackballed and treated, unfairly. Which is a fair argument. But if you are competitively in the playoff picture, while your offense is playing pretty, well. Some of them are pretty d@mn good.


You don't need a player, like Memo in that scenario. Most teams want or need 3 point shooters who can defend or defenders who can occasionally hit 3s. A good defensive big who can hit outside here there and or guard the paint. Slow down other big offensive players.

Why would any bad team pick up Melo, if they cannot win substantially more games with him. They're probably going to try and tank.

Melo is basically a specialty scorer in an isolation offense. That doesn't benefit most modern day NBA teams. Unlike, players, such as Beard, Westbrook, LBJ, or Kawhi, Melo's only good quality is scoring in isolation. These other players can not only score, they can also pass; set other players up for easy baskets; play defense; hit open shots; rebound; and bring intangibles to the table. If you slow down Melo's scoring or he's not hitting his shots, it's a rap. He can't really work anywhere else on the floor.
