Luis Scola playing amazing at the world cup brings back memories.

A favourite of mine back in the day.
Well wouldn't mind having Carluis Scolandry back at their primes. Or Mr Hayescolandry.

I have a theory that the league tries to manipulate games where older skilled guys are hindered to restricted minutes or made to move along and leave the league as soon as possible. They are selective of the ones they do this to of course.

Sighs..I actually miss the days of Scola, Lowry, Landry, Chuck Wagon & AB. Those Rockets team played hard every night & gave it 100%. Also back then Rocket fans watched the games & not the +/- stats

Because the team had nothing else going for it.

I chose this side of the lawn anyday.

Agreed, i'd much rather prefer to go deep into playoffs every year vs having the 14th pick year after year. Don't think people really remember how frustrating it was to go 42-40 /w the 9th seed for 3 or 4 years straight, as Daryl put it, worst position you could be in.

Or making the 8th seed leading to losing the first round pick and then getting swept by warriors

I'm pretty much anti-Melo as you can get. The man doesn't know how to play team ball. Scola, on the other hand, has old school post play. He could go one on one with a bit of physicality but was called for fouls more than half the time. Heck, Tim Duncan, retired from the league in the nick of time as he rarely ever goes out to the perimeter to shoot threes...

Scola is amazing and he could play in the NBA, but it seems that teams are going away from skilled old guys.

Scola is like 6'10 and closer to 280lbs and could still move plenty quick... He was and is a bit physical so the league calls fouls...

The NBA is not moving away from Skilled players. It's moving away from old guys who can't defend anyone.

Our current best player OPENLY plays for regular season accolades while laying down in the postseason, essentially quitting. Those Rocket teams were built different

Scola was an important building piece along the way. Scola, Yao, McGrady, Battier, and Lowry with Brooks, Motumbo and Landry off the bench. Best team of the Yao-McGrady era....but they didn't stay healthy. woulda, coulda, shoulda :(
