As we, thankfully, draw closer to the NBA season, Shump remains a key piece. Whether he's Dead Man Walking cap space with a contract used to facillitate another deal, OR....
A healthy, not washed up Shump. A guy that was never 100% for us, who didn't have enough time to come back. (yet still managed to outplay what we had out there in the playoffs)Shump was playing 26-28 min/gm, shooting high from downtown, and playing good D in Sacto before the injury. Before that, in Cleveland, Iman was playing his best ball when he went down ...only to come back, healthy in LBJ's doghouse.
If this guy is healthy and giving US...24-25 minutes, we're golden.

I know many here think he's cached.
    But, I don't think he's done.
Either way, it's a no lose situation to bring him back at whatever number.

We could definitely use his contract for a future trade, but he is a guard, something we have too much of.

Shumpert is basically Trey Burke. Trey Burke only signed for the vet min.

Take your L Iman and just sign for vet min.

There doesn't appear to be much of a market for him.

He's only been in the league for eight years. I know it seems like longer.

And, if you look at last year in Sacto..Iman shot his highest number of attempts/gm from 3 ..and it resulted in the highest % from deep since his second season.
Again, look at the minutes played.
Finding more freedom there post Cleveland..refining his role.
    Then the injury.

If healthy/right would play a lot of three for us.

I've been wondering where the 'sweet-spot' is for IS - - between what he brings and what he might bring back. Yeppers, agree he should be retained. Played if not swapped.

In addition to what you said, it is also my (fan/wanting) belief that a full training camp will be quite useful for IS' uh, usefulness inside TheToyShop.

I had pretty high hopes for him but he just looked so bad. Confused on defense, wild on offense, and nothing that he did was even average (much less above average).

I have no idea why he was such a dud. Was it the injury? Maybe. I'd be willing to take a shot on him in a nonguaranteed deal. Otherwise....

    Understood.

What might change w/Shump if he were to have a full camp? Hard to answer, eh (unless one is an all-buying fan, I 'spose).

    That is another option.

One, I would welcome. But, I'm not sure Iman, or the legions would be content with it.

I think his only value to this team is as a contract … that you can use to bring in someone who fits.

Problem is that its apparent that Tilman has limited payroll at the tax line so its highly likely that Shumpert isn't resigned at all much less at anything approaching the 13.2m where BYC becomes a problem.

This asset is wasted right along with the additional 10m they could have taken on in the Westbrook trade.

We are at the time of year when $ and slots have dried up. Shump needs to wait for DM the GM’s op.

I don't think Tilman is willing to pay him $5m for a season and stash him as a trade asset. It's the end of August and he has no offers, he would take something like that easily.

He is one of the least intelligent players I have ever seen playing basketball though. I don't want him anywhere near our roster unless it's injury insurance. It's better to let Clark/House fail all season than to waste minutes on Shumpert.

We should give him $10m per year and trade him at the deadline for a solid player on a 2 year deal.

The Iman Shumpert saga is truly an embarrassing moment in time
