He gets all of the money no matter what, this just changed the schedule so Tilman doesn't have to come up with the cash right now.

Can someone tell me how this actually "helped facilitate the trade"?

Was it something like this? (pure speculation)
Of his $38.6mill salary Westbrook was due to be paid in the following way:
    August $19mill
    September: $6mill
    Rest of months: $1.36mill

And possibly it was changed to:
    Every month: $3.22mill

I'm assuming Tilman would prefer it that way so he doesn't have to shell out up front, and can smooth the payment schedule?

Don’t know the exact schedule but yes, it was done to adjust the schedule to spread out payments so we don’t have to fork over all the cash up front

I'm pretty sure it's the broke/poor money managing posters that b**** about Tilman and the financially responsible/ more well off posters that understand his moves.

Wow. Confirm Ed Tian don't have money to pay for contact. layout at Kmart.

Meanwhile, Draymond Green made Warriors owner pay him 50 percent of contact up front so he can invest that money immediately

    Maybe WB doesn't understand interest

$40 million invested at 3 percent CD means WB is giving $1.2 million each year to Tilman. Compound that interest and he might be giving owner over $20 million lifetime

That's smart. Try Russell for 1 or 2 years and if it doesn't work then unload him.

Don’t think anything is being deferred to later years just spread out over each season instead of big up front payments each year

Maybe his agent is BJ Armstrong like...lol. Poor DMO.

meanwhile, Draymond ain't having none of that lay away payment crap from Billionaire Owners. He ain't no fool.

    He understand COMPOUND INTEREST:

Source: Draymond Green has nearly $50 million in "advance payments" in his nearly $100 million extension, which means he'll get 25% of his annual salary on July 1 of each league year, another 25% on October 1, and then the remainder paid out in installments throughout the season.

    3:31 PM - 7 Aug 2019

I think NBA should investigate Warriors for trying to skirt the salary cap. Give the salary upfront, so they are actually receiving more money(The player), but it's less tax for the owner since Green took less than what he could have gotten if he didn't sign the extension

I am confused. Is Westbrook changing the amount of money he's owed each year, putting more of it towards the end of the contract, but still being owed the same sum over all 4 remaining years? (I don't believe Bobby Bonilla-esque stretching the contract monies owed over ~20 years is allowed in the NBA) Or is Westbrook merely agreeing to get paid the same amount as before for each year, just taking it at the end of the year or whatever his actual arrangement is?

One setup potentially allows for more team salary this year, with a lower luxury tax bill, at the cost of a much greater bill in subsequent years. The other is indicative, to me, of a cash flow problem on the part of the Rockets. I mean, what does it matter whether WB gets 38 million, or whatever he's owed, as 82 game checks, or as one lump sum at the end of the 2019-20 season? (Hopefully while raising the O'Brien Trophy.)
