Sign him for the minimum and then act like bringing him back is some great accomplishment.

On a side note, any hope that Tilman isn’t a slumlord rests on what happens to Shumpert.

His value has expired, he was taken in for salary dump last season.

He walks. Tilman Fajita didn’t give me any reason to believe otherwise.

With that CP3 deal over, it looks like we won’t be looking to add any additional large salaries.

I bet we stay under the lux tax. Either we re-sign him for the min or he walks is my standpoint.

    LOL.

At the beginning of the summer I thought they would use him as a tool, but now I think he walks to keep under the LT line. Tilman is breaking me.

Minimum or he walks. Not sure what kind of market there is for him though.

It’s too late for him to sign over 6 million dollars contract with other team.

At this point, having him for the vet min is better than not having a defensive-minded wing.

    RoCo ain't happening.

Is Shumpert's salary guaranteed? Can't they just take his salary and pay Kenneth Faried instead?

I think I would rather fill the roster spot with Faried. His rebounding and hustle would fit better with WB0. Plus we just got started with his spot up 3 pointer game. He might be better than Shump from the corner.

He's a FA. He can sign where he wants. The Rockets hold his Bird rights, and can re-sign him to whatever they want, without any cap problems. Though luxury tax considerations would still apply.

If they sign him to a contract worth more than 13.2 million a year, he becomes much more difficult to trade, as Base Year Compensation (BYC) rules come into effect for determining how much of his salary can be used in a trade with another over the cap team.

Absent a salary like Shumpert's, or taking back extra salary in a trade, the Rockets would need to trade a high salary player to receive a high salary player in a hypothetical trade. That means losing EGo, or Capela or Tucker. And it's why people here are butthurt that the WB/CP3 trade wasn't expanded to take back another player, either from the Thunder (Roberson would have been fine, IMHO), or from a 3rd team.

Finally, Faried probably isn't coming back, if the reports of friction between MDA and him are accurate.

Agreed. I think he walks. Unless he agrees for the minimum.

However it happens...Via trade, then buyout....or just keeping him..I see Shump finishing the season here, and getting PT. He wasn't ever fully healthy last year...not done...should give us great 3 & D.

I can talk myself into not expanding the trade not being the end of the world. Maybe the wolves wanted too much for RoCo and I absolutely get not wanting to trade another FRP for Iggy. But **** man, this team is SO close. Especially with how wide open the west is. It will be really disappointing if we don't make a bigger move.
