If Westbrook turns out to be a bad fit, he can always be traded.

So it's not a boom or bust scenario at all. It's actually a boom or trade scenario. Since I don't think WestBrook is going to be a good fit, I expect a deadline trade. By then the Rockets should have a better idea of how they fit into the new WC pecking order and be in an excellent bargaining position.

Nobody is giving us anything of value for Westbrook. We'd be lucky if we don't have to attach more assets.

We only traded assets because we were trading an equally bad contract outward.

Trade deadline desperation and with all the parity throughout the league now it can definitely happen.

Yep, all harden has to do is go to Tilman and Morey and say it's either Westbrook or me. Boom.

The way I see it, we traded a potentially high pick to get rid of CP3’s contract. And another potentially high pick for WB. If we ever did trade him I expect his value is 1 FRP due to his contract as well. So we’re not getting full value back in this scenario.

I’m going to screenshot all the negative WB post and revisit them halfway through the season. To think WB can’t contribute more than last year’s CP3 is a tad bit mind boggling.... but hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I don’t know if WB and Harden are going to bring us to the promise land, but I do know CP3 and Harden for sure can’t.

But we gave away all of our picks. So it kind of is boom or bust.

If Westbrick doesn’t pan out I can see us riding this train till it derails and burns...
Perhaps showcase WB and try to gain something of value......

Let's be realistic here, the only trades Westbrook will be involved in from here on out are the fresh massive overreach and overpay teams made this summer.

Maybe when buyer's remorse sets in, Tobias Harris, Khris Middleton, etc.

    That's it. No superstars.

I'm definitely not sold yet on the wb trade. Also with all our draft picks gone... it is definitely going to be tough to trade him. Still hoping this isn't the last big thing Morey does this offseason.

Two of them are swaps. That's not the same thing. They're also both protected.

Unless you get someone like AD, Embiid or an upcoming guy like Tatum, Mitchell trading WB would mean Harden is going to leave too.

I do not think Harden is going to retire here with Tilman, that guy is fast and furious.

Either way, at least we can rebuild from scratch.....

If Westbrook isn't a good fit with the Rockets, that likely mean the team and/or his play is disappointing, which in turn will DECREASE his value. Westbrook's value was already not great this offseason, with few suitors aside for the Rockets and Heat. Imagine his value after a few months of disappointing play with the Rockets. Trading him then, might not be as easy then. In fact it might be extremely costly.
