How in the world do you know the pick in 2026 will suck? Harden and Westbrook may both be retired by then. We could be one of the worst teams in the NBA by then. This is crazy.

I'm not sure how Westbrook and Harden coexist with their recent play styles over the past few years. one or both will need to change significantly. On the flip side, CP3 was no longer a mismatch for opposing teams, and against the very best opposing point guards he was the mismatch. His health had to be a concern for Rockets fans going forward and a much larger slide in play quality is certainly possible for CP3.

CP3 was at least publicly fine with Harden being the man when he arrived, it's hard to see Westbrook accepting a secondary role (likewise with Harden), and Westbrook playing off the ball is kind of worthless anyway for maximizing his talents. Flip side is that this deal doesn't happen without Harden and Westbrook's blessing. Westbrook is still a bonafide star, CP3 is not a super star level talent any more.

Also despite CP3 disputing the rift between him and Harden, I didn't see anything from Harden either way (but maybe I missed it). If there was any where near the smoke that the media made it out to be, then getting Westbrook for CP3 is better than what I could have expected (assuming it's just picks and no other players are moving that I have missed).

Say what you want about Westbrook, one thing we can count on days in and days out is he plays with heart every game.

I think Westbrook is going to run with the 2nd team.....there is no way he will start with Harden. My guess....

While I agree with this, it was hard to see that with Harden having the ball so much. I think Paul is a better overall player, but with Hard and MDA, Westbrook MAY be the better fit.

If CP3 gets bought out and joins the Lakers, we shoot ourselves in both feet

Maybe Harden can actually sit down for a few minutes without us blowing the lead.

2 biggest ball hogs in the league together in the same backcourt.

Perhaps 2 biggest playoff chokers too.

    HOLY CRAP!

I was hoping we would get him, but for just CP3? That's incredible.

2 picks and 2 swaps for an even worse contract than cp3's contract? for a less efficient, ball-hoggier, no defense player? this is certainly an anti-morey move. i guess we'll see if he's outsmarted himself or outsmarted me. i don't know why we have to give up assets. lakers can bench rondo now i guess and we'll have to go through lebron, AD, and cp3 after he is bought out (i'm on page 1 so maybe that has already been announced).

the articles about houston settling for continuity seem hilarious now. only good thing is this probably raises the ceiling with minimum roster turnover (point guard for point guard), but i barely escaped having to root for melo. now i have to root for westbrook? i guess i didn't start to hate him until he stole harden's mvp. now i just hate him for chucking constantly and being hard-headed. hope a zebra can change its stripes.
