Why did Tilman buy this team?

And he didn’t even have the cash straight up right? Like didn’t he have to get some loans or some ****... he has to be the richest broke muthafcka in the US.

 

It’s Cadillac bar for me too. Helps that live 2 minutes away. I go to happy hour there once or twice a week. Banderas enchiladas ftw. That’s the only Landry’s restaurant I go to though.

 

I think Les proved that buying an NBA team can be an incredibly lucrative investment. That Fertitta has a history of being a sports fan in Houston, as well as a Houston resident, makes the investment unsurprising, in my opinion. The league is usually pretty anal about financial stuff (I wish they were as "anal" about assuring the league has officials worthy of calling the games) and who buys the teams, at least that's been my impression, and they approved the sale. Having said that, a lot of the ire aimed at Tilman is because of the lack of money spent last season that might have put us over the top. We'll see just how free the guy is with his money starting with this off-season. Talk is cheap. Whether Tilman Fertitta ultimately is remains to be seen, in my opinion.

 

He bought the team just so he can say he owns a team. Literally the only reason.

You're acting as if he wrote a check for $2,200,000,000 to Les Alexander or something. He issued bonds for $1,415,000,000. He owes a LOT of money to a LOT of people because of this purchase.

agree... and I guess it’s no surprise fans don’t fill the seats. I used to rip on the fans but now with Titta owning the team perhaps the fans will stop showing up altogether if they start out 2-12 or 4-19.
- not to mention the “classless” tweet they sent out after the MVP

He bought it because none of you whiners bought it first.

 

Or go gamble away a bunch of money at the golden Nugget in Vegas or Lake Charles, La.

 

It's funny because the answer to this question can be applied to pretty much every owner that's purchased a professional sports team in the 21st century and yet, here we are, questioning Fertitta as if he's the exception and not the norm for an owner nowadays.

Fertitta is an absolute master at making money on enterprises with marginal quality.

 

And so that you can give all of your kids fancy sports jobs - this is a reason why many people buy teams and why Kirk Lacob is such a well-respected executive.

 

It is tough to be Tilman right now.

Just when you thought he'd win a championship, CP3 got injured.....then he wasn't sure we are a Top contender.

Now we are even less a contender, West teams are improving alot.

What does he do? Running his mouth in newspapers again, isn't an option.
