Does this Podcast include how enraged we all should be that the Rockets worked out Ben McLemore?

It's like the more Fertitta denies he's cheap and that CP and Harden don't have beef the more you believe there's truth there.

Pretty comprehensive discussion. I liked the point about TPEs and waivers, and the balanced discussion on each hot topic.

Like you both mentioned, Houston is talking a lot about stars considering how hard it is going to be to get them without triggering a hard cap.

I look forward to our little summer moves (UDFAs, MLE, BAE, etc), though I know people here will get absolutely triggered every time we (or another team) signs anyone that isn't Jimmy Butler.

    Great podcast!

Overall, it's refreshing having a level-headed conversation about the "hot topics".

Super busy at work, so I had to listen to it in segments, but worth it!

Wow, thanks for the *shout out* @Clutch on the podcast. Listening to it now.

Richaun Holmes, indeed! ;) Would be a player that would probably excel here for the Rockets.

I've been an advocate of Richuan since he was in the draft. I'll take credit for discovering him when nobody was talking about him. Thank you very much. Wrote about him here.

But he recently got busted for da weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

How idiotic can you be? Making millions. Need to be healthy and clear-headed. Need to get to a place where you secure your future. And you're smoking dope.

That tells you a lot. Probably still worth taking on at his salary and either letting him ride the roster and possibly see if he can play or using his salary for trade fodder later. So I'm not against taking him. But he should have made more progress in his skills. He was showing the beginnings of a nice 3-ball in college. He hasn't worked on it. Has become a faster Capela. Just a rim runner. Like I say, I still like his skillset for his salary. But you never know who is going to follow through and make the most of their career. Richuan, so far, he's missed opportunity. He's got the talent that he could've really developed his jump shot...even more than Harrell has. And he'd be in line for a nice raise. As it is now....he's going to be competing for a job in a few months.

I hate to break it to you, but from personal experience, unless the drug tests have gotten a whole lot better, and those better tests have altered behavior in the last ten years, he's far from the only guy in the NBA who likes to relax with a bowl in his room after a game.

Frankly, I'd rather my players did that, instead of getting trashed and getting into trouble in various cities' urban nightlife. Probably not the best for their aerobic conditioning though.

Actually I don’t get upset when we don’t sign stars. I think that’s the wrong formula for winning a championship when their overpaid. GS was able to sign guys on reasonable contracts first. No, what pisses me off is all the talk and focus on bringing in a star while ignoring all good players that could help this team. How about using the MLE to sign a guy that can shoot the 3? Guys like Seth Curry and Malcom Brogdon will sign contracts elsewhere. Perhaps their teams will use bird rights to re-up but most likely we’ll miss out on guys that could actually help improve this team

Meanwhile, we aren’t participating in this years draft since Morey traded away our first round draft pick for a washed up vet in Shumpert that already reached his ceiling. He will never be a good 3-pt shooter which is a real head scratcher since our offense is all about shooing 3’s. Same as MCW... a scrub that can’t shoot, And make no mistake, this is Morey’s mess!

    Sigh.

It isn’t Morey’s fault the Rockets traded away Anderson and took on Shumpert. He had an owner that wanted under the luxury tax. He didn’t really have many avenues... especially considering he didn’t even really want to sign Anderson to begin with.

MCW was a minimum salary signing... those guys usually do not work out, just let it go.
