So we are not only hard capping the Rockets. The team receiving Shumpert would also be hard capped. And Shumpert is not getting 13m per season. That’s his caphold, not what he’s worth.

This doesn't make sense, they would use a team with cap space like the Clippers, Nets, Lakers, not a team without any chance to sign him like the Rockets.

 

Exactly. That is old news. GS is also prepared to offer KD and Klay their 5 year deals, but you hear about KD wanting to go and recruit another player to the Knicks.

NBA free agency is fluid and we try to pick up the signs. We know JB is a different kind of guy and wants to win. We can offer him the 5 year next year and he gets to potentially win championships in a place that he grew up.

Harden is in his ear and probably Tuck too. There was no smoke last year with Lebron. At least, we're in the mix for now.

For us Shumpert’s cap hold is 16M but that is irrelevant over the cap. 13M is his max to use in trade without base year compensation limitations to half his salary in trades. We have his Bird rights but to use him in a S+T we are limited.
