Yeah this is me. The idea of a sign and trade for Horford on a 4/80 deal that costs us Capela with that being our big move is a little scary to me. He could nosedive any year now INCLUDING next year.

Capela and Nene for a S&T Horford at 3 years $54 million. Move Gordon, Chiozza, Davis, Frazier and future 1st to Philly for Butler.

I think we should do it in the opposite order with the move with Boston (which imo would also bring back at least a 1st round pick) as the last move cause the sign & trade would hard cap us but, yeah, that would be our dream scenario, with a solid MLE signing as the cherry on top, but i won't hold my breath, afterall we're just never lucky so, if we can just bring Jimmy here i would be already super happy at this point, i'm fine with giving Clint another chance if we can't upgrade.

Isn't the luxury tax fixed on the last day of the regular season?

Yes. They could consummate a trade now and it would not impact their luxury tax standing for this past season.

Didn’t Horford love Houston and Morey’s pitch the last time he was a free agent and was really close to signing here?

I think it’s down to here or one of the NY teams (because of the missus)

Yes, he was close to signing here. His family wanted him to sign here. He said it was the hardest decision he's ever made to sign in Boston instead.

To the Clippers with Kawhi makes too much sense...

Yo! How crazy would it be if Brooklyn steal both Horford and Kyrie from Boston! Payback from that Garnett Pierce trade!

Wasn't like his father Tito pushing him to sign here but his wife liked Boston more? I think i read this somehwere at the time (and it pissed me off so much...)

In the end money talks but it speaks volumes about Morey and his sales pitches when Horford, Iggy, and Bosh all reportedly came away blown away and really considered Houston as their next team when they were FAs.

But of course the experts on here would disagree and say Morey sucks.

In the case of Horford it wasn't money. We offered the same deal and he just picked Boston. As the poster above referenced, his wife wanted Boston and his dad wanted Houston.

Rest of your post though is important and should be used to push back against the "nobody wants to play with Harden" narrative.

-Dwight chose to play with Harden
-CP3 chose to play with Harden
-Bosh chose to play with Harden until an offer he couldn't refuse financially
-Iggy was going to play with Harden until Golden State topped the offer
-Horford struggled between Boston/Houston before picking Boston (was more than willing to play with Harden)
-Jimmy Butler wanted to play with Harden this past season

I’m still baffled as to why she would want to live in Boston. Just because it’s closer to NY?

I agree with you but our resident scholar @Htowngenius begs to differ and deemed Harden expendable

    Trade 1:
Houston - Opt in and trade Jimmy Butler
Indiana - Eric Gordon into capspace
    Philly - Nene, Indiana's 18th pick

    Trade 2:
Boston Signs and Trades Al Horford (4 years, 80-90m) and the 14th pick in the draft.
    Houston sends Clint Capela

    Paul
    Harden
    Butler
    Tucker
    Horford
