Mgmt Discussed a System Change - More Ball Movement/Less Iso

I was sarcastic by saying "the right way" cause hearing analysts this season saying that was really something to laugh about.

 

It won't be a smooth transition (at least that is the norm) but in the end it is worthwhile.....IMO....if you get Harden to move his butt an inch more when not palming the ball, that is a win in my book.

Remember 14-15 season where Harden had a team USA summer and came into the regular season in some of the best shape of his life and followed it up with his first MVP caliber season?

I'm hoping that is the case this season because he's going to need to improve his stamina if he's going to play off ball more. Also, I'm hoping team USA camp coaching staff will force him to play off ball more so he can have an adjustment period before entering into next season.

 

He played at a much faster pace back then, he wasn't walking the ball up. Also mentioned in the article was playing faster

 

That's cool. To me the NOT 'right way' is the way KMc (v Rambis) ushered in the Bad Boy era that ran until MJ retired and Stern decreed a 'new day'. Of course TheGoodGuys won-won twice-twice during that era, and a time that inc MJ not getting past Nick (soon-to-be 'the brick).

BTW - - How come MJ gets full winner credit for his 6-for-6 in 8 years while playing what, 17 years or so???
BTW II - - MJ = The GOAT, yes? Yet - - in the '80s Magic and Bird, likely Isaih, were better than he. And from @'93-'97 Dream was better, as well. Oh, well...

The problem is not iso ball, the problem is being able to adjust when shots aren't falling

 

That and the Rockets need an offense that is sustainable. The ISO offense only works when everyone is making their shots. In a live game situation, even catch and shoot shots are difficult. The offense needs to generate easy buckets and not just "wide open 3 point shots." As we all know, wide open three pointers don't mean jack when you can't make them. It's much easier to find players that can cut and finish at the basket and play good defense vs a three point specialist with defense. We need players with a more well rounded game vs pure shooting specialists. I may be in the minority with this but the ISO offense needs to change. Less predictable, more variety offense please. I loved the days of Rick Adelman and his motion offense. ISO is necessary at times but it gets very easy to defend even with an all world Harden running it.

 

Wow. I thought we had geniuses @ Toyota Center. Don't they read Clutchfans? Adjustments work sometimes huh?

 

Good luck on reeling Harden in, especially if his teammates are having a crap quarter.

Good idea in theory, but I question the coaching staff and the role players ability to implement it. It'll also be a big switch for Harden after these past few years, so that'll take time to adjust.
