You have to admit as a Toronto fan, it would have to feel weird if he left. Kind of like "wait...it's over? we're back to being also-rans?" lol.
I doubt he leaves, I think there's a lot of desperation from LA-leaning media to make it seem like a real possibility. Even if he does though, they can rebuild one season later without having to do anything at all. They'll have 2 max cap slots, a recent championship, and Siakam/VV/OG/Powell as young core. That's why it wasn't this genius thing by Masai to acquire Kawhi. Even if he walks, it was a good move for a rebuild, which it was time to do with the previous core.
Yea I see that too. He seems to enjoy the challenge of finding a way to win. Can't believe he actually stop Lebron's Heat and Steph's Warriors from three-peating. 2 Dynasty ended by this man.
He Technically ended the Spurs run as well. They would have kept winning 50 plus games with him and kept competing for a title.
Yeah but the championship is worth it. I would rather win a title and be mediocre for 10 years than be great for 10 years and never even reach the finals. Like 2011 Dallas. That title was worth it even though they haven’t done anything since.
Yeah, I get that, and agree, but that team had Dirk as the face of the franchise. He's the definition of "lifer" and "Mav" for them. They struggled to finally reach something for years -- they can say it was homegrown. On this team, it was more like Kawhi was the best player and he may just be passing through, and now that he's gone through, they're back to being also-rans. I guess you can say Lowry was on the team, but he wasn't the difference-maker/stud on this team. I kind of hope Kawhi stays so it gives them a sense of "he's ours" as opposed to it seeming like a 1-year rental of a ring. But like I said, I agree with you -- I'd rather have a ring than not, of course.
Of course we would be better with Kawhi but people around the Spurs especially in the front office are really excited about the Walker White and Murray trio. For everybody assuming San Antonio is done will see they were wrong when those guys hit. I'm guaranteeing a 50 win season next year because of those three alone.
I hope he's a Raptor for life. He does not seem like a guy who will want to help Lebron win more championships; he wants to surpass Lebron. There is no guarantee that he will have the same chemistry with the guys on the Clippers. Where else would he possibly go?
VanVleet is like the discovery of this year or even half a decade. Leonard prolly longs for the Cali sun.
