The Raptors missed the playoffs for 5 years, won 22 and 23 games in some of those years, then with Derozan developing, Lowry developing, they made the playoffs 5 straight years including a conference finals.

Then they traded their all-star #1 guy. And now they're better.

At least await the moves to see what happens. The real grim times will/would be when in 4/5 years we still have no ring and Harden is too old and expensive to be a meaningful asset anymore.

Yep, and they can be just as close next year but just giving up now. Weird.

This is the first time I've moved into the "I have no idea what they are doing" camp.

I still don't buy the "trying to force him quit" narrative. It's so incongruous with who the people in charge of this organization are that I can't accept it.

    I love it.

Time for him to get off his a## and start really coaching. Make some adjustments and stop making James do every damn thing. Do you want a ring or not, coach?

Regardless of what's happening, this is a terrible look. Even if everything IS ok, the organization looks like a mess now and it will be hard to make any important changes.

    Question -

Are you implying that Daryl and Co - do not want MDA anymore but TIllman still wants to keep him?

Not a laughing stock at all. And it's not hard being a Rockets fan.

I think most fans around the league are envious of Rockets fans. The Rockets are ALWAYS trying to improve. They always swing for the fences. They aren't afraid to make the big move and shake things up. Most fans would love to have a GM like Morey. There are plenty of teams that make it hard to be a fan. The Rockets aren't one of them.

    This is fun.

    No, that's amateur hour ****.

You want the guy, give him a real extension.
You don't want the guy, let him go.

Portland eliminated, a week or so later Terry Stotts & Neil Olshey get extensions. Portland keeps their guys. And I doubt they were "performance based".

    Fired the defensive staff
Have lame duck Head Coach you don't want
Need to hire new assistants for said fired assistants
Who will all be gone in a year when the current head coach's contract expires and you're starting a new search.

Don't be surprised to see the team go up for sale again in the next few years.

His agent, BJ Armstrong, advised him not to sign at this point. "My client knows his rights."

I mean after losing the way they just did, most of us expected changes of some sort whether it was mda or something else. Turns out to be all the assistants and probably some player transitions.

but im specifically talking about the same ones who were getting all worked up for more years of mda and now that he isn't getting the extension are just as worked up. pick a side of the fence.

For one, its not clear they're giving up. It's not clear what they're doing, but they can still be just as close next year with MDA coaching on a final year of a contract.

For two, if they were "giving up", its not that weird.

The name of the game isn't being close.

Why tf give someone an extension when he did not deliver this year? Conference Finals, two semi final exits. He needs to prove himself and IMO is the best way to push to change his style or he can **** off.

I guess it's just a little less black and white.

I think it's perfectly fine to question giving MDA an extension, then also question the set of events that have happened since news of the potential extension was first reported.
