    How do you Define Crime?

Dictionary: an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law.
    or
Dictionary: an action or activity that, although not illegal, is considered to be evil, shameful, or wrong.

Is it 100% dependent on the Law?
If there is not a law against it .. . . anything goes?

As Americans we need to figure out what a Crime is..
One definition that would apply to everyone

You got both definition that matches the origin of the word. To be judged legally - an illegal act. To be judged morally - immoral, sinful act. More modern inclusion is to be judged by some standard of expectation - a stupid, ridiculous act.

I don’t know how you can simplified it to one definition without using or inventing a different word.

Not calling blatant fouls committed against Harden in the Warriors series especially in game #1. (at least that should be a crime)

When there is a actual victim that is suffered or potentially suffered (unless stopped) monetarily, physically, sexually against their will or without consent.

    Examples: murder, rape, burglaries

What should not be crimes: gambling, weed, prostitution, assisted suicide

There will be gray areas no matter what

It'd probably help to know what situation you're thinking about. It is a fact of language that words have multiple meanings depending on their context and application. If you're hoping that everyone will adopt one definition and stop using the word 'crime' to mean the other definition, no that's never going to happen. I suppose when you're on a particular subject, you can ask people to be more rigorous on defining their key terms and not try to pull some vocabulary trick to win arguments.

A crime is an act that is not very cool nor very legal.

That is kind of a point
We define things based on things that should be irrelevent to the definition.
I have seen things that are crimes for poor people. . . but are not for rich people.
We definitely have stronger consequences for the poor .. . . that is not even arguable
    but
the problem is . .. something are literally not considered a crime for Rich people
I find that to be a problem

ALSO - I saw and article that is was not a crime to collect rain water in some parts of the country
It is a crime to film cops

    It seems at some point everything will be a crime . . . . . . .
