What awful luck...I’m sure Pop will still be coaching all that time as well.

    1) Divisions barely matter at this point
    2) Yes...the NBA continues to embarrass itself with the conference disparity
    3) Doesn’t matter...Rockets window is closed anyway

They sure did a lot with Anthony Davis. Good grief get a grip, this is meaningless to the current state of the Houston Rockets.

And the Mavs, Pels and Grizzlies will have to deal with Harden in their division.

Good, when were not elite enough to win, we get a high lottery pick instead of spinning around in mediocrity. Win now, get that ass kicked after Harden's prime.

Will we still be paying Matt Maloney come 2027?

Meh. It's whatever with me. Can't be good forever. Every team has its down and mediocre years. Some more than others. Let's just enjoy this era of the Rockets while we can before the other teams blow by us with their youth lol.

It's a not a coincidence that all but one (2004 Detroit Piston) championship teams in the past 30 years had AT LEAST ONE core player that was originally drafted by the team. You usually draft your best players when your team was struggling in the prior season. Leslie/Morey's insistence of hanging around at 8th/9th seed and refusing to tank rarely works from a historical standpoint. You almost ALWAYS get at least one of your best players in the draft in order to win a championship:

2018 Golden State Warriors - Curry, Thompson, Green
2017 Golden State Warriors - Curry, Thompson, Green
2016 Cleveland Cavaliers - James, Irving
2015 Golden State Warriors - Curry, Thompson, Green
2014 San Antonio Spurs - Duncan, Ginobili, Parker, Leonard
    2013 Miami Heat - Wade
    2012 Miami Heat - Wade
    2011 Dallas Mavericks - Nowitzki
2010 Los Angeles Lakers - Bryant
2009 Los Angeles Lakers - Bryant
    2008 Boston Celtics - Pierce
2007 San Antonio Spurs - Duncan, Ginobili, Parker
    2006 Miami Heat - Wade
2005 San Antonio Spurs - Duncan, Ginobili, Parker
2004 Detroit Pistons - This might be the only exception. You can also argue Prince was a key player.
2003 San Antonio Spurs - Duncan, Ginobili, Parker
2002 Los Angeles Lakers - Bryant
2001 Los Angeles Lakers - Bryant
2000 Los Angeles Lakers - Bryant
1999 San Antonio Spurs - Duncan, Robinson
    1998 Chicago Bulls - Jordan
    1997 Chicago Bulls - Jordan
    1996 Chicago Bulls - Jordan
    1995 Houston Rockets - Olajuwon
    1994 Houston Rockets - Olajuwon
    1993 Chicago Bulls - Jordan
    1992 Chicago Bulls - Jordan
    1991 Chicago Bulls - Jordan
1990 Detroit Pistons - Thomas, Dumars
    1989 Detroit Pistons Thomas, Dumars

1996 Lakers (53-29 record) getting Kobe Bryant with the 13th pick from the Hornets might be another exception. But you need to have all the moving parts in your favor to have that kind of luck.

It's almost closed. We are going to have to get a major player upgrade if we going to keep MDA.

MDA isn't the problem …. There's only one team that's knocked the Rockets out and that team is arguably the most talented team ever assembled in professional sports.

The fact that the Rockets had them on the ropes last year and each game in this years series was decided by 6 points or fewer - First time in the history of the league that has happened - should tell you haw good the Rockets have been the past two years - Really good. They just have that one team no one has been able to beat in front of them.

That means the division champions streak continue!! Rookies, while talented, suck balls when it comes to winning. Especially when the crap orgs stay the same. That said, I won't include Mavs unfortunately. I think they get good quickly. But Grizz and Pels, eh... they will waste whatever talent they acquire.

I actually think Zion will be a mild bust. Gonna be good enough but not a transcendent superstar.

I think he has an injury plagued career. The dude shifts directions so violently at times I cringe just watching. But if he stays healthy I would disagree.
