If the Rockets had kept Lou Will, Montrezl, & Bev instead of trading for CP3

    Beverley/Rivers
    Harden/Lou
    EG/House
    Harrell/Tucker
    Capela/Faried

Crazy to think about but that team might legitimately be as good if not better than current Rockets. While CP3 gives you right now 16/8, Lou is giving you 25 a night just dropped 36 as the #1 option against GS. Montrezl is a beast just went 9-9 he is a monster in the pick and roll scored 25 points as well.

Beverley as well is a useful tough defender who shut down KD tonight.

Moreover that team is younger and not tied down to an aging CP3 on a $40 million contract. Lou is on one of the most team friendly contracts in the NBA and Harrell has years left in his prime.

Who could have predicted that it would be this close?

Lou, Montrezl and Bev are a great story, but stop it.

House, Faried, Rivers probably aren't even on the Rockets radar if Lou, Trez, and Bev are on the team. You can't just pick and choose a lineup out of thin air and say what could have been. Are you trying to incite a riot?

    Lou/Harrell were insanely underused here.

Lou plays no defense and doesn’t fit next to Harden. It didn’t work. CP3 and Harden fit like a glove.

The Rockets tried hard to exclude Trez in that deal. I do wish we could have kept him

Hell nahh. And it doesn’t work that way. You can’t just assume Faried, Green, Rivers, House and especially Tucker would be here without CP3 being here. Tucker’s main reason for being here was to play alongside Paul and Harden.

I like this years roster twice as much as last years and probably 5 X more than 2017’s.

And we picked up the OG version of him for nothing. Clutchfans complained about adding a 2nd superstar to pair with Harden that actually works for the longest time prior to getting CP3 and they’re having second thoughts or wondering what if now? We made the WCF last year and are on the verge of another deep run. Everyone should be happy and not even think twice.

This is literally impossible. The salary cap would have not allowed us to keep the players we traded awAy. Also Rivers and Faried don’t come here if they are here.

Beverley was overrated as a defender (by myself included).. CP3 is actually underrated as a defender. His timing and anticipation of the passing lanes is simply exquisite. And he holds everyone accountable

Austin Rivers arguably gives you excellent on ball defense and is better at driving and finishing in the lane than Beverley.. Lou and Harrell wouldn't have the playing time here especially with MDA's leash and they play bad defense

Omfg man, here comes the ritual yearning of clutchfans when ex rockets play well. Yes it was a great comeback but if you think that if we kept those players intact is better than trading for cp3 then either you are troll or you have the brain of 10 year old. Stop it, cp3 is the main reason why we almost won if he hadn't gone down last year and hell you could make a a case that he was playing at the same level and maybe sometimes better than Jim at some games, cp3 bring so much defense, IQ and leadership that none of those guys were going or capable to bring ever.
If someone is going to help us get the chip its cp3.

Lou Williams had a 32.4% usage rate this year. People think he would ever get that amount of touches if he had stayed in Houston? Lol, hell nah, not even close.

He’s shining in LA because they lack creators and perimeter scorers so he’s allowed to do his thing and be the engine for their offense. Here he would be competing with Harden and EG for shots and touches. He also can’t defend.

I will take having CP3 over having Bev without hesitation...they’re both injury prone, but CP3 is 10x better

Trez is good, but we have Faried so whatever

ever since that trade, we’ve been a legit contender and everyone here is talking about how we can beat GS...stop reminiscing over role players, it’s ridiculous

Rose colored glasses. I miss those guys, and I'm especially impressed how Montrez has grown.

But if you're pining for the past, you're forgetting how woeful our playmaking was every time Harden went to the bench back then. It was a serious issue for the team, and it ran Harden ragged all though the season and playoffs. Lou and EG simply couldn't create at a high enough level.

Don't forget how all the pundits predicted CP & Harden couldn't get along and share. Don't forget how in their first season together, the Rockets beat up the whole league to the tune of a franchise record 65 wins and were up 3-2 on the Warriors in the WCF.

Yes, the CP3 contract will eventually become an albatross around our necks, but management very consciously decided to take that risk in order to give ourselves a 2-3 year window at truly contending for the championship.

We're in the middle of that window. We have the MVP doing things Kobie, MJ, and Wilt have never done. We have have a HOF playmaker leading the bench when Harden sits. We truly have a shot at taking it all this year.

Lou is a bad complement for Harden. He's too small to play this switching defense and needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Gordon is a much better fit for Harden.

Beverley is a good defensive player, but CP3 is arguably better and definitely smarter. Austin is pretty good defensively too and is bigger than Beverley.

Should've kept Montrezl, but he wouldn't have played as much as he does for the Clippers now because of Capela. Also we got Faried now who plays exactly the same as Montrezl.

    The rotation would be

    Beverly Rivers
    Harden Williams
    Gordon House
    Tucker
    Capela Harrell

It's deeper but when Beverley is on our offence is weaker when Lou is on our defence is weaker.

    CP3 keeps both strong
Faried is great and a drop off from Harrell but neither are getting big minutes.

Are you serious? Tucker only signed because Cp3 is on the team. He had a higher offer somewhere.

    Cp3+Tucker>>>>Bev+Lue+Harrell.

What's crazy is you thinking the Rox would have the best record last year or top 3 seed this year without Cp3 and Tucker. Without that high seed you think Rivers and Faried would sign a vet min deal with the Rox? Rivers probably thinks he is better than Beverly yet you think he would be willing to come of the bench on a vet min salary backing up Lou Will.

The reality is its Cp3+Tucker+Faried+Rivers>>>Harrell+Bev+Lou Will

You realize Clippers are 8th seed right? It was a major UPSET for them to beat GSW. You know what UPSET means right? It means 99% of the time they get clobbered by 30 pts. Clipps win 1 game by the skin of their teeth suddenly we are better with role players than with Cp3. With Cp3 we won 3 games against GSW last year and a 3-1 record this year. This is ridiculous.
