I mean its only a 1 year deal but at best he's an average corner coming off an ACL injury....wooo? Ehhhh
I've watched Roby since he was drafted by Denver. I remember being a play-maker and decent CB, but he was normally on the #3 WR his first few years. He'll be playing for a contract, so hopefully he'll ball out. He gives us a vet presence at the corner w/ some speed, but we'll add a couple of more CBs through FA/draft.
I read somewhere this year he covered the other teams best WR and also held tyreke hill to like 3 catches and 30 something yards but idk we will see
Pff had last season rated pretty low but maybe that was just an adjustment to defending #1s. Maybe he adjusts and learned a few things and does some good for a bigger contract..... Only to sign somewhere else next year. Lol. We really are gluts for punishment as Texans fans.
He was playing beside Chris Harris. Most likely whoever he plays beside (right now it is Joseph) in Houston wont be as good.
Talib and Harris were the 1/2 CBs until this year. I didn't watch as many games this year (Broncs are wife's team). However, he does have speed and is decent in his breaks, so it wouldn't surprise me if he held Hill down.
Luck/TY, Matty/Julio/Ridley, ???/Evans, Brady/Edelman, Brees/Thomas, and Mahomes/Reek, Rivers/Allen, Carr/Antonio. That makes you feel better?
Not exactly a Roby expert, but my guess is there was a little bit of an Aaron Colvin effect there - really great statistically as a number 3 guy, but a little overmatched last year when he started more games than he had for every other pro year combined. Right now it seems like they've got three guys at corner who would be great 3rd corners. JJo was a legit #1 but age is a b**** and Colvin and Roby both put in their best work as a #3. In fact Colvin and Roby are both enough alike that I wonder if that is what a "Brian Gaine FA" is going to look like - a guy with good limited results looking to step up to a bigger role.
