As much as I like Matthieu for his swag and personality I really didn’t think he played that great last year... there were plenty of times when he would gamble on a play and end up giving up huge plays and touchdowns. Wish we could have kept him but I don’t think it’s a huge loss on the field.

All I’m saying is you don’t win the Super Bowl in March.

I wanted badger back in the worse way and have been saying he isn’t going nowhere all along and I was wrong.

But because the chiefs signed him doesn’t mean their defense got any better actually I think they got worse even after signing badger.

    Even more than that.
The coin flip for o.t. goes the other & does ANYONE actually think (after torching the pats for 31 points in the second half) they don't march straight down the field for the win just like Brady did?

    Sorry to see Badger go.
Although he's slipped a bit in coverage he's good everywhere else and IS going to improve the chefs.

Hope E.T. can come back from the broken leg & regain his old form if we sign him.

He wasn't really as good as advertised last season and is very injury prone. He is good, but not worth the kind of money KC paid. Do we even have a defensive backfield now?

Yikes, they can have him for that money.

I wanted him back, but I think he's merely above average with a ton of hype, not actually a great player.

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2018/opp.htm

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/total/sort/netYardsPerGame/position/defense

Don't know how accurate this is, but the top 6 defensive teams this past season (according to pro football reference and ESPN stats) were CHI / BAL / TEN / JAX / HOU / DAL. That's points per game.

If we're talking overall yards per game: BAL / BUF / CHI / MIN / JAX / PIT.

KC went farther than all those teams. An elite offense with bad defense beats an elite defense with bad offense, most every time.

As long as the Texans are going to allow good teams to move up and down the field at will, they may as well do it for less money. Let Clowney go also. Maybe they can get lucky and find a way to get out from under Watt’s massive deal as well.

I think Justin Reid is going to make us forget all about losing Mathieu. Hal, a draft pick, Earl Thomas etc. will be fine in the other slot, it's really CB that I'm more concerned about.

Yeah I think some people still think of him as the same guy he was at LSU. But he no longer returns kicks and is not good when he has to cover. He is a good tackling box safety...nothing more.

Good for Tyrann. That's great money considering his circumstances.

I mean most good offenses run at will up and down the field all the time.

The exceptions, to me, seem to be 70% about game plan. Granted, our coaching staff is what it is... so if we've accepted that, might as well make the 30% be as strong as possible.

But in the back of my head, I still think, much rather spend on other positions, fill in safety with a quality player but nothing anywhere close to leading the market cap wise, and hope, hope, hope the coaching staff can gameplan appropriately.

And to be fair, while impossible to say what would have happened in a closer game, the defense did adjust after the horrendous start to the playoff game... and I still have much more faith in Crennel's gameplanning than B'Ob's on offense. So again... give me the solid but cheaper safety and spend on oline.

Of course, they haven't spent on oline either, so...
