[ClutchFans] The Manimal at the four could be a boost to Rockets

I know it is a small sample size but what do you think about Faried 3 years at 6.5 mil? Would we do it and would he?

I had no idea he could shoot the 3 before..

 

Was just thinking it would be great to slide Tucker over to the 3 and make Gordon a 6th man again.

I had to change my pants at least 2 times after watching Faried hit those shots from the 3

 

LOL. Rockets ball, now we just need Clint to realize he forgot how to shoot. Seriously though, Ken shooting 3s is dangerous for all the other teams in the league..

I think that would be best for him, he likes playing a James sort of role with the 2nd unit. He also has more FUN that way too of course

 

If this experiment works out then this could be a good thing for the Rockets in terms of future trades and signings. Maybe Daryl and MDA will be more likely to sign and play traditional power forwards even if they're not capable shooters. Faried isn't going to finish the season shooting 35% from three, and he isn't a great defender.. but he can absolutely play minutes next to Capela as a traditional power forward. I like him as a back-up 4, and would be surprised if he captures the starting spot, but the fact that he is playing his traditional role as a 4 is very welcoming. Kenneth Faried could hopefully break the current philosophy of needing to play 1 in and 4 out throughout the entire game. Guys like Gary Clark who aren't great shooters but mobile bodies can develop into defensive fours that can rebound. I was absolutely stunned when I saw Clint and Kenneth on the court at the same time.

 

Tucker being at 3, Gordon eventually returning to his super 6th man role are great things. The natural order. Faried at 4 instead of backup 5 is another move in that direction. Hopefully he can maintain a 33% 3 point average and force teams to remain honest defensively. It even opens up the backup 5 for Nene who seemed like a godsend bodying up Cousins.

The problem now is figuring out backup 3 and 4. You have a bit of a logjam between Green, Shumpert now since I don’t think either is a 4.

I love the optimism but Faried's shooting is almost guranteed to come down and it's not gonna be pretty. Anything else would be a miracle.

I didn't think we'd see Faried and Capela on the court at the same time; at least not this much.

They both looked slightly out of sync with each other, which makes me think: once they gel, it will be really something.

 

His shooting probably isn't much worse than Draymond Green. And, the defense is probably better with him because of the rebounding. I think what really made this work last night was that he really put pressure on the defense diving to the rim.

 

If he shot sub 25% from 3 (Draymond's 3PT%) I'd never let him play alongside Clint again lmao.

 

I was shocked that Coach Dan Tony started Faried at the 4. He must see what we've been seeing.
