Damnit, stole my joke. Morey: "We've currently fielded calls from seven teams about Marqueese Chriss." Reporter: "Uh, Daryl, are any of these teams in the United States?" Morey: (pause) "No comment."
I don't think that's true. Just because no deals happen doesn't mean he wasn't actively pursuing deals. If you've ever bought a house you know it isn't as simple as just putting in an offer. That offer has to be accepted too. And there might be other people making offers. Some of them might be superior to what you are willing to offer or are even capable of offering. Besdies, he added Joe Johnson and Brandan Wright after buyouts. Neither of them worked out but clearly he was still trying to improve our roster.
all I'm saying he gave up two guards to get point got but known injury prone and approaching past his prime. so since after the trade in the offseason his priority should have been a backup/insurance point guard. the only other pure pg we had bobby brown. either morey truly believed Cp3 wasn't gonna get injured again or he believed that joe johnson wasn't washed out. that mistake prolly cost us a championship
the "mistake" was there was no backup / insurance PG.. after last year, what should have been morey's first move after getting an ariza replacement? get a backup / insurance PG or something else was more important?
i mean its been posted many times. the rockets don't have a true backup pg spot, so that in turn shy's a ton of the better backup pg's away from houston instantly. why would they come here and just sit on the bench. the ball is going to be in harden/cp3's hands. that's why morey took the chance with JJ. he's a combo guard with experience. that obviously didn't work out as well as a lot maybe anticipated. but for someone being bought out, hard to argue with the move alot of people here were excited about the mcw signing. he did address a backup role. another combo guard. he just chose a player that absolutely was the opposite of what this rockets system entails. I'll always be puzzled by that signing. then another combo guard happen to fall in houston's lap a few weeks ago.
Rivers and Faried are not major additions. Morey was forced to get them because of injury issues, not as a roster upgrade...
Why is the timing important to determine if the additions were upgrades or not. You don't think they are upgrades over Melo and MCW?
Established point guards aren't going to come here to ride pine behind CP3 and Harden. And with limited trade assets it would be a waste to trade for an established one. With Harden, CP3, EGo, and Green weren't we heavy enough at the guard positions? If anything, we were guard heavy and frontcourt light. We played CP3 31mpg last year and he sat 24 games. Health is everything in terms of championships, but sometimes you gotta swing for the fences. We had a chance to win it all last year, which is a lot more than we could've done without CP3.
“I would hate to see a career derailed because teams feel he cannot play at the level he did before the trade,” Goodwin said."
Rivers is garbage after two weeks, and Faried isn't improving your defense. No, Morey still needs to do a LOT more this season.
