3 of those coaches dramatically improved their teams upon getting hired. 2 won Superbowls within their first 5 years, and the 3rd has been a coach for 1 year and took a team that had 4 straight losing seasons to a 12-4 division title. The fourth has circled the drain for 5 years and aren't any better than they were for most of the previous coach's tenure. Which one is not like the others?
Much better chance of the Arians/Bowles combo making a quicker/bigger impact. Kliff needs to make sure the Arizona ownership gives him more than 1 year, unlike his predecessor.
3 of the 4 failed to get out of the first round of the playoffs. While they have had success in the past, they have clearly lost the plot like Romeo and need to go.
Definitionally, a coach that wins exactly half of his games is ... average. Yet fans grade their coaches of some crazy as sliding scale. win less than half of your games => HC should be fired and never hired again even an assistant coach win half of your games => HC should be fired but maybe has a future as a assistant coach win over half of your games but miss the playoffs => HC should be fired but maybe has a future as a OC/DC make the playoffs but lose in the first round => HC should be fired and may get a second chance as a HC if he is lucky make the playoffs but lose in the conference finals => HC should be fired if this is the second time this has happened make the playoffs but lose the Super Bowl => HC should be fired if this is the third time this has happened or if the SB winner is the Cowboys win the Super Bowl => HC should not be fired ... this season
This thread and the whole Texans forum here is depressing. O’Brien is next years head coach... and OC
No, a coach that has average talent and an average schedule that wins half his games is average. Big difference - the fact that you think the above demonstrates the fatal flaw in all of your posts. No one actually makes this argument except the voices in your head. The fact that you need to create strawmen to try to rationalize your viewpoint also demonstrates the weakness of your argument.
Broncos hire Bears DC Vic Fangio; Gary Kubiak to be his OC Browns stay in house & hire OC Freddie Kitchens; fired DC Gregg Williams Jets hire Adam Gase
Over a proper sample size, a coach has, by definition, average talent and an average schedule, so it's not a "big difference", it's no difference. "The fact that you think the above demonstrates the fatal flaw in all of your posts."
Coaches get about 3-5 years on average with a team - that's not a large sample size and those rosters rarely turn over completely so they are not random samples. And if the teams suck regularly or are great regularly, they don't play an average schedule - they consistently play 1st place or last place schedules. Teams like the Patriots, Steelers, etc have not had "average talent" for over a decade - because they know how to draft & trade properly and develop talent. Cleveland is the opposite. Very few teams just have average talent year after year. Jeff Fisher and Marvin Lewis are probably the only examples in recent memory of teams with a long enough sample for your theory. No one else fits your theoretical sample size and generic talent quality, so it's not particularly relevant. Nice try, I guess? That said, if you're stupid enough to believe the idea that coaches all have an average talent and schedule, then of the 26 active head coaches that have coached 1 game or more, BoB ranks 18th in the league in winning %, meaning he's well below average. The average currently-employed coach is far better than 0.500 for their careers.
You're the making claims about what large numbers of fans think. I'm saying you - and specifically only you - are an idiot. Who exactly is projecting?
This is what I think of your silly opinion ... Spoiler I said that you were projecting since I had no idea what the f*ck you talking about. This is a thread to talk about who the Texans should hire to replace OBie, which is a complete non-starter. 7 pages later ... The fans that posted on this thread have impossible standards for HCs ... "Didn't win the Super Bowl? Then off you go." This is not voices in my head. Carry on.
