The trade can be judged. What we do with the picks has no bearing on whether the trade was a good idea. The picks have a pre-determined value, whether we blow them or hit on them is purely a measure of our GM... not the trade.

Here's how you judge the trade....

Measure Brown's contract against his production. Right now Brown is the 12th highest paid Tackle in the NFL and he is probably playing at a top 10 level. That's one metric. Next, take the net result of weighing Brown's production vs. contract against what the Texans are doing/capable of doing over the life of Brown's new contract.Would having Duane Brown put the Texans in striking distance of a Superbowl appearance?

If the answer is yes, then the trade was likely a failure.

If the answer is no, then the trade was probably smart business.

If Rankin becomes a SOLID starter and they get a Solid starter at CB/OT/or a productive WR/HB......then you can judge.

Duane Brown, a very good o-lineman, had a cancerous attitude that threatened to rip up the entire chemistry of the locker room. Getting ANYTHING of value back for him in a trade was and is fantastic. These kind of people cannot be on the team.

    GOOD DAY

Completely agree regardless of how good he was this year, he didn’t want to be here so the fact that we got anything for him is a positive.

    LOL.
Only people who thought that were Trump supporters. He was popular in that locker room.

The judgement of the Trumpers should be disregarded since they ignore the Cancer of the USA: Donald J Trump.

That's basically telling him to not comment in the Texans forum, he can't help himself.

    Head in the SAND.

The whole Brown saga was political. There is a big group of Texans' fan that hate him simply because he RAISED his fist during the first round of anthem protest. Then, when the McNair comments hit right after his holdout ended...he was the one who spoke out. Hence, the "Lockerroom Cancer" narrative BS. Made up ****. The players in the locker room respect Duane.

For you. For me, it was about a locker room cancer being cut out and nothing more. Pointing out that you think the whole thing was political just proves the point I was making that you responded to. Again, you can't help yourself.

The problem with that, many opinions in this thread are POLITICAL. All about him supporting the anthem protest.

Bullshit. You don't trade the best LT you have EVER HAD.......with no replacement......if it wasn't political. You see the result of not having Brown to protect your LONG-AWAITED Franchise QB.

You do that when that player won't show up for work and is doing the best they can to be a locker room cancer. Again, you've already pointed out that to you this is all political, so obviously that makes you blind to what was really going on.

Also, there's a playoff game later on, and Duane Brown isn't on the Texans, there's no reason to continue to talk about this loser in the Texans forum. Start a thread about your boy in the appropriate forum....which in your case is the D&D given that you are only interested in the politics of Duane Brown being a douchebag, and stop polluting this forum with politics.

Loser? LOL. 2nd team All-Pro shows he is not a loser. Brown was doing what he had the ability to do to force a contract resolution.

He's a locker room cancer who refused to show up for work and that makes him a loser. He was willing to hurt his team and his teammates out of greed and I don't want a POS like that on the team....especially given that they all stood by him as he got caught taking PED's TWICE.

No. That was one component of it. The other and bigger part was that Brown wanted a new contract 2 years early. Texans didn’t oblige and so he went faux-outrage with the inmates comment and became a nuisance. Yeah it would be nice if he was here...but he’s not.

I'm about to say something so outrageous that it forces mods to lock this thread. I would get banned but it would be worth it.

Good for him. I was satisfied with what the Texans got back in the trade but would undo the trade in a heartbeat.
