I don't know if this is the offense we need to run because right now we don't have any shooting or if the league is just catching up to the ISO. Hopefully we turn it around but I do think we need to stay with it and see what we have once we have everyone back from injury.

We have to stay with it because we don't have a choice.

Especially with Gordon out, we don't have cutters on this team. We have two really good ISO players and a bunch of 3pt shooters. This is the only way we can play.

Hey, no one was concerned about it after we beat the Pacers @ Indy

We are not hitting enough shots ... period...we haven't had harden, paul, and Gordon at full strength

i noticed one familiar thing i absolutely HATE and no for a fact we're about to be in a losing situation... everyone standing outside the parameter while harden stands there with the ball in his hands.

    no ball movement. nothing

There is variety in ISO. They have gotten slow, lazy and cocky with it.

You are correct and First Take also just said it too much 1 on 1 while everyone else is standing around.

same story after every loss. Iso's are bad blah blah.

When the rockets were winning 65+ games and nearly eliminating GS, there wasn't much complaining.

But this team regressed and has a horrible combination of players, particularity what was brought in during the offseason that don't fit so yeah, its pretty much a domino effect

Last season, the Rockets ran ISO 15.6 times(14.5% of their total possessions) per game and scored 1.12 Points per Possesion (PPP) which is excellent.

This season, the Rockets are running ISO 15.7 times (13.6% of their total possessions) per game and scoring an identical 1.12 PPP.

It doesn't appear that ISO is the issue.

    EDIT:

Here's the individual breakdownj on our ISOs this year:

    Harden 8.8 pos/game with 1.20 PPP
    CP3 7.3 pos/game with 1.03 PPP
    Anthony 2.3 pos/game with 1.14 PPP
    Gordon 1.8 pos/game with 1.27 PPP
    Ennis 0.3 pos/game with 3.00 PPP
    Capela 0.3 pos/game with 0 PPP
    MCW 0.2 post/game with 0 PPP

For a point of reference, any PPP over 1 is very good.

You can make Green, Clark, and Ennius cutters or at least try. This offense is essentially trying to open a door by banging your head against it.

The shot selection and effort has been abysmal.

    Appreciate the stats @aelliott.

Without looking it up, feels like the Rockets are missing a ton of bunnies. Those at the rim shots. And feels like they aren't getting to the FT line as much or hitting FTs at a good percentage.

And how are the Rockets are hitting 3's as a percentage? And at hitting "wide open" variety of 3's. Again, without looking at stats, feels way down.

I have been saying this for a while... No Team Ball.... Who gets the ball brings it down and shoot or one pass and shoot....

Stupid game plan and will not win many games.... Definitely, will not a championship with this game plan.

won 65 games and near nba finals appearance just fine last year. wouldn't be nearly as bad if guys hit their perimeter shots and almost every rotational player is struggling out there

want things to get better offensively? guys need to be better at execution or just get better actual shooters that fit the actual system

To answer your question we are at the bottom 10 in the league on open 3 pt %. We were 9th in the league last year. No one on this team can shoot right now except Harden and Tucker.

Thanks for pulling that stat. There you go.

9th in the league (at the Rockets volume) got it done. But volume at bottom 10 in the league means a ton of misses and a TON of transition opportunities for the opponent not going up against the Rockets set/base defense. Double whammy.

Offense is broken because no one is making shots. You have Harden, Paul and Gordon missing easy ones at the rim. You have Melo, Clark, Green, Gordon and Paul missing wide open shots that the iso offense is producing. None of your players are getting to the free throw line except Harden and even when they get to the free throw line, including Harden, they are not shooting the ball well.

It's as if we had MCW in there even though he was finally yanked from the rotation. If players start making shots, things will pick up again. Defensively, I've accepted that we will be in the lower tier of the NBA, but even when we were lower tier in 2016-2017, we still won a lot of games because our offense was always there.

Our offense is not there this year. Surely the law of averages means it will come back at some point, but man is it brutal to watch waiting in the mean time.

It probably will. The problem is when that happens will it be too late.

Last year we had tons of veteran depth. It feels as tho we only have 6-7 playable guys. And no depth
