Will Cain, someone who knows less about basketball than Max Kellerman, said something Clutchfans likes. Impressive.

cause he's a 33 year old that just got 160M 4 year contract... he aint gonna give you 160M on court over the next 4 years... you're paying a portion of that for his leadership and his diplomacy.

Many on here don't seem concerned about Butler's temper tantrums.
Apparently if he comes to the Rox he'll be a well-mannered, team player with a change of scenery.

BUT, there's one thing that is largely overlooked.
He's not ASKING to come to Houston. We're trying to trade for him.
But, if he doesn't WANT to be here will he be Mr. Team Player?

nobody seems to realize that its a cost cutting move...
Tilman lets Jimmy walk.. and you're shaving off the last year of Ego and/or last 2 years of PJ...
leaving us with nothing to barter (outside of the big 3) but negative (or unproven) value contracts... Knight, Nene, Chriss, Ennis, Qi, Hartenstein... EGo and PJ are 2 guys that the fans would expect you to pony up and pay for via Bird rights - those other guys - not so much... lol

THIS. I'm surprised more people haven't pointed out this hypocrisy coming out of Butler's mouth. Wanting to win and going to Miami should never be in the same paragraph together.

That's definitely one way to get out of a contract.

    Was that too dark?

Why? They aren't great but they aren't terrible and Pat Riley certainly has a long established history of winning. It's not like the Knicks, Suns or the Timberwolves.

but but but he’s from Tomball NOT H Town. Haha, I don’t think JB could handle hearing the media narrative that he’s from Houston

Good point Mike. It's a good thing that what I do for work and what professional athletes do for work are so closely related that you can use them for such a direct analogy.

Honestly, you can easily argue that Chris Paul's on-court stats, even now, warrant a max contract.

He wants a max contract thats why the teams he mention are the bad teams because they have capspace. All the good teams are capped out so if he says he wants to go there that means he is gonna come at a discount like what Melo and Boogie did.

Its a pipe dream the team can't afford 3 max contracts+Capela+Tucker. If you have 3 max dude the rest of your guys will be vet min or Rookies thats why KD made GSW so strong when he took less than the max.

I can see his contract this year being justifiable... and hopefully next year as well... but 41M the year after that... and 44M the year after that as a 36 year old... yehhhhhhhhhhh.... I'm gonna consider it a 'big picture' contract... lol

Jimmy has openly defended Harden for his lack of defense in the past.

Says his offensive output is so much that it’s impossible to be a two way player.

Jimmy has mad respect for harden as do all the other great players in the league.

Harden is the truth what he does is impossible to replicate. Only guy that can do it is lebron.
