Hospice is one of those albums that will always haunt me. Almost stops you dead in your tracks when you hear it. I know some others here have felt the same way. My wife had a brief cancer scare earlier and I couldn't get The Antlers out of my head the whole time we were waiting for the tests. There is always comfort in music.
It's always a mystery which songs get stuck on repeat in my brain. This is in heavy cognative rotation atm, God help me. It is kind of amusing to see Wierd Al dressed up as Weezer Guy circa 1997.
ive been on a mercury rev kick all week. hadnt listened to deserters songs in years and i forgot how epic that album is.
Yeah, music is an amazing thing. Hope everything was alright with her. Good thoughts and best wishes sent to you and to your family, Moe.

I'm nearing the end of the top 500 albums of all time that Rolling Stone put out a few years ago. I hate to upset Buck, but I think Hotel California is a pretty stellar album.
I am a huge Shaggs fan. I love their original songs most of all, but their cover of Paper Roses is a solid classic as well. My favorite The Shaggs Own Thing with, I think it's their dad, and maybe someone else singing on it, is one my favorite songs of all times.

of all the late 80's/early 90's shoegazer albums this, along with cocteau twins heaven or las vegas is the one i listen to most. still holds up great - they rocked harder, were better musicians, wrote cooler songs and had more interesting arrangements/time signature changes/ect than their more famous contemporaries. they opened for ride at numbers in summer '92, which was the first i heard of them. bought the album the next day.
Yep, they were t***! For me they go beyond 'shoe-gaze' and are a completely unique band. Bordering on more of a post-punk feel... If you don't have their other LP's I'd highly recommend them. Actually HK from BotM worked with singer/bassists Ian Masters on his solo project called Spoon-fed Hybrid.
