I honestly think it’s almost impossible. Not because he doesn’t deserve it, but because he had the best stats & record last season and they still wanted to give it to LeBron. He honestly would probably have to win 70 games imo.
Not trying to jinx us, but I think it would take an injury or two to some of our other key guys, then Harden would have to drag us to the best record in the league again with a near triple-double average. Apart from that, it ain't happening.
Other MVP candidates - LeBron, Anthony Davis, Giannis....their records are likely to be less than Top 4 in their conference. So that aspect will be interesting. Individual numbers will have to be big here. But "media narrative" will be huge. Perhaps Irving or Leonard in the East could be in the discussion with their records. But will they have the stats? And will Durant and Curry continue to cancel each other out?
Luckily the expectations on the Rockets are laughably low, which helps Harden's MVP case, as we will likely over achieve. Lebron, Giannis, Westy and AD's teams won't be good enough. KD and Steph will cancel each other out. I think Kawhi gets it. Toronto is primed to have a monster year
With how Kawhi got himself out of SA. Will that hurt him with the voters? (not counting Beadle of course, LOL)
[Media Conspiracy] It will not happen again, no matter what! "James Harden is a good player but his stats are inflated a little bit by D'Antoni's system." "I voted for Harden but we all know LeBron is the MVP of the league." "It's the best story line. Harden was runner up twice & even though they won 65 games, LeBron was most deserving." "Should we give co-MVP?" "Maybe we can split the award into two: most valuable & best [overall] player?" "Should we stop giving the award after the regular season and just have one award for regular season + playoffs?"
we need to get the best record in the league and James gonna have to do something like 30/10/9...bspn might still find a way to discredit him tho
cure cancer the media gave it to him once, and they damn sure won’t do it again Idc about MVP all that much anymore, all I wanted was for Harden to win just 1...I’m not greedy next on the list is a title and FMVP
Highly doubt he wins it back to back...even last year, when it was CLEAR that he deserved the MVP, the media was trying to argue for LeBron. When it got to the point that it was a no-brainer for Harden, the media painted it like -- Harden is gonna get it because he was close in previous years and he deserves one. The only chance Harden has to win MVP again is if Rockets destroy the league with close to 70 wins, which I think we are capable of, but I don't think is likely due to pacing/resting players and focus on playoffs. Do hope we get the #1 seed again though to have homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs.
James would have to average a triple-double, lead us to 70 wins and stop going to strip clubs in order to win another MVP.
Yeah... He won't this year. He isn't hungry enough for it. I think, CP3 is far hungrier. I wouldn't be shocked if CP3 won it. Book it.
Back to back MVP?? The Beard would need to make sweet love to Adam Silver and half of the media for this to happen. They HAD TO give it to him last year to make up for the Westbrick travesty!!! Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
