    There wasn't a Trump civil war on the 4th but there is a trade war that starts official this Friday but actually seems to have started last month as the Chinese are restricting US imports already and companies are reporting delays and logistics problems with China. Furthermore, US companies are planning layoffs and some are saying they may have to move overseas. #MAGA

    China has every motivation at this point to try and help get another president in place of Trump who will help benefit their economic desired results.

    Theres no reason to believe that they won’t take a page from the Russian playbook to interfere with our elections in 2020 and maybe even this Nov.

    All those Trumpers who freak out at the idea of fighting back and protecting from Russian interference in 2016 need to take a look at current events and think about how narrow sided they have been just because they think they benefited last time.

    China is not going to war with us in a traditional sense but they are more than capable of punching back in more ways that one. You guys advocating for not protecting our elections puts us in the cross hairs for the inevitable run in with China in the near future. Only this time, my tribe who you Trumpers hate more than cancer, might benefit.

    ....

    Regarding the trade war... this is incredibly stupid. You aren’t bringing back millions of jobs overnight but you are making life as a consumer far more expensive. Wages aren’t really going up, but healthcare is far more expensive, I can’t write off thousands of expenses I could of last year with the stupid tax cut, and now the Dolt and Chief wants to make everything more expensive to try and get a couple rust belt jobs back in 9 years.. maybe but probably not.

    This president just really really sucks.

    Right. Some of us have been making this very point since we knew what happen with the 2016 election, but some of our friends don’t want to see it.

    Xi JinPing knows Iowa quite well;

    some 30+ yr ago, he led an animal-feed delegation in Muscatine, Iowa, where he toured farms and
    visited rotary clubs. He stayed w a local family for ~ 2 weeks

    Since becoming China's President, Xi has visited Iowa several times

    Hate the state funded propoganda. As much as we hate the media in this country at least it is free & independent despite Trump's attacks.

    Yup, now anyone with the money of a strong nation can begin to interfere with our elections. Russians have shown that the USA is weak and not united - it is ready to fall

    Russia apparently used bots and advertisements in order to sway an election in favor of one of Americas political parties

    Huge outrage

    China is vocally targeting their tariffs towards specific areas in order to sway elections in favor of one of Americas political parties

    No outrage

    This was a pretty good podcast regarding the China situation without dabbling deeply into partisan politics. The guest did a good job describing both sides, then shifting into the macro scale to describe the national policies of both (QE, quantitative tightening, low interest near-ZIRP strategies, etc...)

    You are comparing Russian cyber crimes and propaganda to China's retaliatory tariffs? Seriously?

    What boob tube are you watching these days?

    LOL.

    Like clockwork. Trump just accused China at the UN counsel of meddling in the midterm elections. No mention of Russia in 2016 to now, but creating the predictable "whataboutism" to say "well China is helping the Dems", and paint Democrats as Communist sympathizers.

    Again... I predicted this awhile back, and said that this is exactly why Trump fans should have cared back in 2016 regarding Russian interference.

    If there is any truth to Trump's claims, I do hope that the FBI will take steps to prevent this from happening, and if any Dems do get compromised, I hope they go to jail.

    But again... I'm 99% sure right now Trump is looking for a "whataboutism" excuse to his likely treasonous activity. Stoking the "RedScare" from the Right too is a way of keeping his paranoid base engaged as well. I'm sure Bobby thinks we need to invade Vietnam again to prevent China from expanding Communism to India, and Australia.

    on a stand-alone basis, the Canada / US trade spat may cost Canada lot of $$$,

    But, thanks to Trump, there is a relief available for the Canadians;
    one of the unintended consequences of the US / China trade war, has been new export opportunities created for Canada, details as followes.

    Canada to buy large quantity of soy beans rotting away in warehouses in Iowa, at deep discount,
    and more "Canadian soy beans" going to China.
