How realistic is it that DeMarre Carroll gets bought out this season?

I think he will get bought out, just as Phoenix will buy out Ariza.

Phoenix is a sneaky pick to be awful. They don't have a point guard, their starting 4 (Anderson) and 5 (Ayton) can't defend and they are ridiculously young. In the west it's highly possible they collapse mid-season and all of Ariza's "mentoring" doesn't matter.

Houston is in really good shape to get a quality wing at the trade deadline/buyout market. We have all of our future picks, a variety of salary filler options and a good chunk of the taxpayer MLE left. Despite losing Ariza and Mbah a Moute, we are in a better position today than we were when we had those guys.

Can't wait to see what unfolds. So many options on the table.

Kurucs is more of a frontcourt player than a wing and musa is a 19 yr old kid. Neither of them played in the summer league and likely G-league bound

Really depends on where the Nets are at the time. If they are competing, probably not. But if they are sucking...they might look at a buyout.

Nets FINALLY have their 1st round pick this year. So they have some incentive to tank if things go bad. (That said, the lottery percentages are flattened this year somewhat)

Yeah. There's zero evidence out there (or logic for that matter) about why the Suns would sign Ariza to big money just to buy him out. It's just a myth someone started that has now gained a snowball effect.

Ask yourself this: in recent years, which veterans on large expiring deals playing for basement dwellers have NOT been involved in buyout discussions? March will roll around, and all the vets will be complaining that they want to win this summer. Some will get their wish.

On top of that, the Suns have multiple players they need to develop on the wing. Ariza takes up alot of minutes from Jackson, Warren, Bender, and Bridges.

they wouldn't have brought him there for just a year at $15 mil if this was the case. how many years have randoms been waiting for chandler to be bought out. its not happening. based on their track record, they do want to get the most of these vets they bring around there young players.

Yeah, because a small market team is going to buy out Chandler when he still had 3 years left on his deal. Right. I said on the final year of a large deal, not in the middle. We're not talking about TC anyways, man. Keep up.

I will ask myself that. Then I will ask myself which of those veterans were signed for $15M in that same season. Haha.

It's one thing to cut a veteran who was signed before circumstances changed. But it's another to sign a guy for 'veteran mentorship' with the expectation of cutting him 6 months later.

just using him as an example. just as you talked about other veterans when coming to buyouts.

his name has come up around here for years. didn't say you did specifically. btw his contract isn't even "large" relative to the salary bigs have gotten in recent years

Giving a man that was 33 at the time of signing 52mil over 4 years isn't large?

People have been waiting for his buyout since the 16-17 season, when was the last time a small market forked over 40mil in a buyout? That is a VERY large buyout.

hes making less than the likes of noah, robin lopez, mozgov, dieng, mahinmi, biyombo, not really much of a large deal during this state of the league

"He's making less than the likes of *proceeds to list the worst contracts in the league* so it's not that bad"

and then you add in all the centers making 20+. didn't think that needed to even be stated. so yeah with those two TC's contract is definitely not that bad

Best team in the league form a all around team standpoint.

Warriors still got that too end talent on lock with the addition of boogie.

Yep but that would be 2 more 3&D player and 2 more playmakers for the Rockets. Ennis/Caroll over Luc and the additions of Knight and Melo over no one from last year.
