Opinion piece about Clint. I don't know anything about the author but it's his belief Clint is underpaid for the impact he provides to the Rockets' success.

"When the Rockets allowed him to linger on the open market as a restricted free agent for weeks after most other major deals had already come to pass, it reminded everyone that, for all of his corny, musical-enjoying inclinations, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is still a man of odds.

In this case, Houston came out on top in negotiations. To put it frankly, Clint Capela isn’t paid what he’s worth. Ninety divided by five equates to eighteen million dollars a year, which seems like a princely sum in the grand scheme of things.

While, sure, it absolutely is, it still doesn’t measure the impact Capela has for a Houston Rockets team that had the Golden State Warriors — yes, those Golden State Warriors — on the ropes, down 3-2 in the Conference Finals before they woke up and remembered that, hey, yes, we do actually have three of the ten best scorers on the planet in their primes. It was troubling; it had to be done."

    This is BS.

holic's spreadsheet doesn't support this and Tariq Black can replace Capela's minutes and not miss anything at all

Any sane person that has watched the Rockets for the past two years knows how important Clint is to team's success.

We have zero rim protection once he is out.

And on offense, he provides another avenue for us to get easy points with his pick and roll plays.

He has turned into an excellent finisher around the rim and even catches tough passes on the run.

He had an open market to find his worth but no offers.

But on the other note, he is very valuable to the Rockets offense. We will not go far without him. Rockets have no other choice but to pay him but luckily played hard ball and won at the negotiation table.

Clint’s performance last year against Towns/Gobert was eye opening.

Even against Green, Capela forced the nutpuncher to stay home on most drives instead of helping.

He is immensely valuable in our system.

I'm sure Clint and his agent would have been glad to land over $100mil had it been available.
But I don't think Clint was in any hurry to get out of H-Town.
It's a symbiotic relationship. Harden/CP have created the monster that is Clint Capela.
He likely wouldn't be nearly as effective in most other systems or with other players.
On the other hand, the Rox wouldn't be as effective without CC.

Would have been embarrassing for Clint to go elsewhere for HUGE money and be a bust. RIGHT RYAN?
Of course, he would have a 100 Million ways to dry his tears

Yeah I don't like the way that sentence is phrased. Like the Warriors weren't trying until Game 6 and that all they needed to do was put a little effort into it. It was a hard fought series we almost won save some fluke bad shooting and a CP injury

People talk about his pick and roll action but did they forget his defensive prowess? In the Utah series and the Wolves series he shut down the paint with his defense and he might be the best switch defensive center in the league to boot.

You switch him into a guard and he can still stay in front of him. 80 million for Clint is a bargain considering how many overpaid players there are currently playing.

Might even get better as long as Holic is doubting him.

Nah bro according to Holic Capela is one of the most overpaid players in the league, he should be playing in China instead he is not good enough to be in the NBA. Thong Maker is clearly the better prospect and the Rox should contact the Bucks for a swap and then put the extra money at somebody who will beat GSW. Forget the Thong, clearly any vet min guy can replace Capela Tariq Black, Christian Wood, Beasley, any big man you name will be better than Capela even if he hasn't even been born yet, as a fetus in his mother's womb he will still be better than Capela. Pretty sure Holic has a spreadsheet that demonstrates this, but you can't see it cuz you gotta do your own homework.

It's nice how everyone conveniently glosses over the fact that CP3 went down changed everything. Worriers got lucky....again....

Everyone knows...(even true Worriers fans that look in the mirror) that Rockets would have won that series. If I were a Worriers fan, I'd be ecstatic the Worriers won another ring.....but in the back of my mind I'll always remember what the WORLD witnessed......a 65-win Rockets team that had a historic season with 2 stud PG beating down the Worriers and could/should have finished them off had CP3 not gone down with the injury. The horrible officiating in the 2nd half of game 7 matters too.....but nothing shines more brightly than the CP3 injury. Rockets were the better team at full strength and I for one was not surprised the Rockets were up 3-2.....I expected it.
