The NY Times has taken the unusual step of publishing an anonymous opinion piece by a 'senior official' in Trump's administration. This will likely make some noise.

"Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president. But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis. So we will do what we can to steer the administration in the right direction until — one way or another — it’s over."

    Jesus Christ.

Do something about it other than just whining about it.

At least McMaster, Tillerson, Spicer, Priebus, etc. should all have a press conference today putting their names on the line for the good of the country to advocate for removing Trump.

The only reason why these cowards aren't doing this is because of protecting their own political careers. They are still afraid of Trump and his base. They know people like Bobby, RL, Texx, etc. are ideological to the core with Trump and in essentially a cult, and these former, and in this case, a current Senior official, knows they are done politically & will be blasted as part of the "Deep State" because they turned on Trump like they are turning on Jesus Christ. It's all about keeping faith with this fanaticism that want to vote for Trump & continue to "own the libs" on the internet.

I don't know whats worse... the cowardice of senior officials like this WHO THINK THEY ARE PATRIOTS for saving the country from Trump's bizarre antics, or the cult-like Trump followers who allowed themselves to be brainwashed enough to become this dangerous base that has the country by the balls.... as evidenced by reports like this.

Because people like Bobby wont vote for them or support their party if they turn on Trump. Its all about political power. They need Trump's "Base" to retain power. They are not patriots. They are cowards.

How do we know that this was actually penned by someone that is currently in the Trump administration?

Also, how does this "letter" help anyone?

You either believe the NYT when they said it was (since they know his identity) or you don’t.

I think he expected to be publicly acknowledged as a silent patriotic hero - in reality he's an enabler like the rest.

Trump is unfit for office, the writer says it himself, but since we pushed through tax cuts for the very rich (note, these are actually a disaster and incredibly unpopular) it's not worth the "constitutional crisis" of removing him (we are actually in a way worse constitutional crisis right now because he is still there, now as an acknowledged criminal who is going to try to destroy the entire DOJ in order to cover up his crimes and those of his associates).

I'm not really impressed. I guess we'll find out which of the 3-4 people you are when you resign and you cash in by writing a book and hitting the speaker circuit in the next few months - I won't really be impressed then either.

I have the same question. All the evidence is there for all to see already, so... does this help the alleged writer of the letter sleep better? We already have Woodward's book, and people generally believe his reporting.

    They already knew this.

    Everybody knows this.

    We knew it beforehand.

And these people are still too afraid to actually do the right thing and impeach/remove.

I'm just annoyed at how giddy they must feel, when a beacon democracy is crumbling in such an obscenely obvious way.

I think the real question is how "senior" is this "senior official"

honestly I really think this should be the subject of a new thread, but I'll put it here as it directly refers to the anonymous Times opinion piece

No the real question is why we are still governed by an active criminal/massive buffoon who is obviously unfit for the task?

The real answer is because of men like this "senior official"

We can argue about NYT having a bias or slant or even concentrating on news stories that paint a particular narrative but do you really think the NYT would sacrifice their century plus worth of reputation by flat out publishing a completely fabricated article?

Three weeks off from Trump would be a good start. Nice holiday.
