Chachere and Virgin getting cut kinda sucks. I think they both showed enough to keep on the roster. I think they both got caught up in the numbers game.

Lechler cut is working around Watson's strengths.

--> Go for it on every 4th down and less than 5. Because he's that good.

I wouldn't say terrible. Inconsistent maybe, but not terrible.

I agree. He lost more than he won. He did take over one series in the last preseason game though.

I agree. I recall AJ Bouye looking like hot garbage his first 2 or 3 years as a UDFA until he went nuts on being near elite his final year with us out of nowhere...so not saying he could be Bouye but he showed some flashes to me especially in last game.

That's his only competition but I think he surpassed him.

The "inconsistency" was that sometimes the passes would be inaccurate and his guy wasn't able to get to them. He screwed up more often than not.

I will be most impressed if Tyler Ervin gets cut but with Braxton and Prosch gone it probably means Ervin is staying.

A Look at the Houston Texans Roster without the Unofficial Cuts

Who is still left on the Houston Texans roster heading into to the Saturday mandatory cut down day? Here is a look at the remaining roster after some of the unofficial cuts have been announced. Here is a look at the roster that is still intact going into the final cutdown stretch before the roster is set to NFL standards.

    Quarterback

Deshaun Watson, Brandon Weeden, Joe Webb III

Analysis: Hard to feel that the Texans are happy with what is behind Watson but hard to be pleased with the performance of Weeden and Webb in the passing game as the preseason has progressed.

    Running Back

Lamar Miller, Alfred Blue, Troymaine Pope, Tyler Ervin, D’Onta Foreman

Analysis: The Texans running back group should have Blue and Miller with the health of Foreman yet to be revealed to the public just yet. The running back position is a prime spot to add waiver wire help.

    Wide Receiver

DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller, Bruce Ellington, Sammie Coates Jr., Keke Coutee, Vyncint Smith

Analysis:The group will subtract Braxton Miller and this could be the six receivers going into the season.

    Tight End

Ryan Griffin, Jordan Thomas, Jordan Akins, Matt Lengel, MyCole Pruitt

Analysis: The Texans are looking to keep three heading to the season, those should be Griffin, Thomas, Akins.

    Offensive Tackles

Julién Robinson, Seantreal Henderson, Martinas Rankin, Kendall Lamm

    Offensive Guards

Zach Fulton, Senio Kelemete, Kyle Fuller

    Center

    Nick Martin, Greg Mancz

Analysis: Good chance the Texans keep an eye out for guard and offensive tackle help on the waiver wire. Texans make it a habit of taking four offensive tackles to the regular season. Lamm is a placeholder until they possibly find a better fit the coming days.

    Special Teams

Jon Weeks, Ka’imi Fairbairn, Trevor Daniel

Analysis: Texans made the jump to Daniel which was a small upset.

    Defensive Tackles
    D.J. Reader, Brandon Dunn

    Defensive Ends

J.J. Watt, Carlos Watkins, Christian Covington, Joel Heath, Angelo Blackson

Analysis: This might be the group moving forward, the entire group has played well enough to land on the 53 man roster.

    Outside Linebacker

Whitney Mercilus, Jadeveon Clowney, Brennan Scarlett, Duke Ejiofor, LaTroy Lewis, Davin Bellamy, Ufomba Kamalu

Analysis: Bellamy has a shot at the 53-man roster and depending on Ejiofor’s injury it “might” ask for another OLB for a short time period. Lewis, Kamalu, and Bellamy are on the outside looking in.

    Inside Linebacker

Benardrick McKinney, Zach Cunningham, Dylan Cole, Brian Peters, Peter Kalambayi

Analysis: This group was changed some with the Texans moving rookie Kalambayi to the ILB position. He will help on special teams and give them a project to develop at ILB.

    Cornerback

Johnathan Joseph, Kevin Johnson, Aaron Colvin, Kayvon Webster, Johnson Bademosi, Jermaine Kelly Jr.

Analysis: Webster is still working back into shape, Kelly has not played a down this preseason so there could be a new face or two arrive by the time waiver claims are complete.

    Safety

Kareem Jackson, Tyrann Mathieu, Eric Reid, Kurtis Drummond

Analysis: Texans usually keep five safeties for the season but injuries and other issues might keep them at four.

Texans should jump on this imo. Only 2 years in the league? Release Smith and replace him with Coleman.
