This is a thread to pinpoint the most overrated/overvalued players in Rockets history. I only could think of a starting 5 off the top of my head. Who did I forget?

    PG Royce White
    SG Bryce Drew
    SF Eddie Griffin
    PF Ryan Anderson
    C Kelvin Cato

That's a tough group to beat. But Charles Barkley didn't want to work out, Scottie Pippen did not want to be a teammate, and poor dream went from early thirties to fifty overnight. That was a team I had high hopes for that just did not materialize. I loved the trade for Charles, but I spent many a year after that wishing to have Horry and Sam I am back.

Never liked Barkley, hated the idea of him being a Rocket, and am still baffled by the number of CFers who praise him as one of our all-time greats because he "got us past the Sonics." OT and Robert Horry got us a pair of damn trophies at the same position.

That said, I can't imagine a list of all-time overrated Rockets that doesn't include Dwight Howard. Stats-wise, he did okay, and he was a beast in a playoff series. But he also was willing to sacrifice an entire season in a passive-aggressive attempt to get his way. We thought we were getting a superstar, and instead we got a selfish, petulant man-child.

Also, gotta agree with @RasaqBoi about Melton. Dude hasn't shown himself capable of anything more than G-League level play at this point, but some CFers are acting like he would have been the key to us defeating the Warriors. Absolutely overrated.

I'm not sure I understand the criteria. Ryan Anderson is nearly universally loathed - not at all over-rated. Everyone agrees he sucks.

Side note: Eddie Griffin (RIP) was a power forward. And wasn't Royce White a forward as well?

Anyhow, Donatas Motiejunas might be one of the most over-rated players in Rockets history. People here were freaking out when Morey wouldn't give him a huge contract and then he played himself right out of the league.

Dreamshake is currently publishing their top ten "coulda have been" players.

Not overrated, but the biggest coulda have been for me is Eddie Griffin. He is the example how you need to set you mind straight in the NBA. The guy was long, could rebound, dunk, block, shoot 3s... Durant style.

    RIP man.

    Good point.

I nominate @DonKnock to find those posts and shine the light of shame on those angry CFers.

Ty Lawson. We thought he would propel us to elite status with Harden.

Sleepy Floyd went from good to useless with the stroke of a pen.

Does this look like the final minutes of a Rocket worth hating? A top 50 player of all time, recognized by all time greats as an all time great. Gutting the team was the problem. Your misdirecting rage that the Rockets had no one besides Barkley, Clyde, and Hakeem. CD never found the right combo of players to put around those guys.

We were on the cusp of winning another title, and Big Sexy (who was huge for us) got hurt. It didn't work out, but it was a calculated risk.

Eddie god Bess his soul was a shot blocking machine but due to his off the court issues like his mental illness he never fully lived up to his potential and eventually had a horrific ending .
