George Springer placed on DL

Not great news, but could have been much worse.

That is great news.

Easily could have been a Correa situation from last year.

Tearing a thumb ligament greatly hinders power for a solid 6 months.

 

Between Springer's hand and Bregman getting hit on the fist by a pitch, I was ready for the team to forfeit yesterday and get out of LA.

 

If this is 2 weeks that’s a major bullet dodged. I’m skeptical based on how the injury reports tend to go. Great news if this comes to fruition

 

It's apparently not a UCL sprain so maybe that's why they think he can come back in a couple weeks.

 

I think we can all agree this is good news. That said. Wow do we have a critical stretch of games coming up. Can we hang on? Half our lineup is pathetic.

Ugh why Fisher and not Tucker

 

My guess is Fisher will be the 4th OF behind Reddick, Marisnick and Kemp.

 

Are they picking speed over potential bat? Seems redundant with Marisnek up. I don’t get their impatience with him

 

I have high hopes for Tyler White over the next 2 weeks.

 

Point is I doubt Fisher plays much - they want Tucker playing every night.

Whatever the result, I don’t want to hear anybody clamoring that Davis, White, Fisher, or Marisnick were never given a fair shot here (even if they somehow all become the next JD Martinez)

 

Based on the fact that he’s been extremely productive in short mlb stint so far this season. He also hit well while in the majors last season. And just watching him throughout his minor league career, the guy can hit.

Davis has less than 200 AB in the majors, I wouldn’t call that necessarily a fair shot. White’s had more AB but the bulk came in his rookie year. Fisher is in the same boat as White. So while both White and Fisher were given solid auditions as everyday players and failed, neither has been given a real 2nd chance yet.

Marisnick is an entirely different situation; he is what he is at this point: a stellar defensive player who is up and down (mostly down) with the bat. Of those 4 guys Fisher has by far the highest ceiling but White is the guy I think will have the most successful big league career. If Houston doesn’t keep him on the big league roster next season, he will hit in the middle of someone else’s order.
