If your boss could get a effective older employee at your job for minimum wage, he probably would. Nobody is overrating Melo. He's our designated hitter.
his defense was still very good even tho it had been slipping KD got held to 9-24, 8-22, and 6-17 in 3 straight games of that series, and we won 2 of them that’s under 40% shooting from the field in 3 straight games in the playoffs...he only shot under 40% from the field 4 times in 21 playoff games, and Ariza as his primary defender had 3 of those games
Man like I've said before... he cost the vet minimum! We didn't trade Gordon for him. We didn't trade Ariza or Luc for him. We didn't even trade Ryno for him. We signed him for cheap! He's the item that you bought at the dollar store for exactly a dollar! If it works GREAT! If it doesn't he is on the bench or in China in a couple months. Simple! Before hating or loving the guy give Morey the benefit of the doubt and give it half a chance!
Shame, Shame, Shame on you DM, MDA, TF, JH and, CP3 for not consulting with these posters on this....
After some sleuthing, this seems to be the first time Clutch officially hinted at a Melo pursuit (1/27/2017): http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/clutchfans-podcast-on-rockets’-struggles-carmelo-anthony-and-the-approaching-trade-deadline.280193/ 552 days since then And this was the summer thread that set off the bomb at Clutchfans (6/28/2017): http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/clutchfans-podcast-on-rockets’-struggles-carmelo-anthony-and-the-approaching-trade-deadline.280193/ 400 days since then Of course, this isn't even counting the original "the key to a championship" pursuit of Bosh or Melo in 2014... which would be about 1500 days.
I don't think anyone here is overrating him . No one expects him to be even a top 50 player . However , we do expect him to be an upgrade over Ryan . Melo hasn't played with a creator on the harden before .... not even close . Now add in that he could be on the floor with both James and CP3 . He will have space that he's never had . Whether or not he can take advantage of that fully .... remains to be seen .
This. He's better than Ryan Anderson and he's practically free. At vet minimum it's a no risk/possibly middling or better reward proposition. All offensive players are likely to play better offensively at least with two of the best point guards in the league, so I expect him to play better and shoot better than last year. But if he doesn't, so what? We're out the vet minimum.
Agree. He is a role player. They come, they go, you add some, you lose some, we'll be fine. The worst we'll be is great. “Chris (Paul) and I are the cornerstones of the Rockets,” said Harden. “The rest of the guys are role players or pieces that complete our team. We’ve lost some pieces and added some pieces. I think we’ll be fine next season.”
